This beautiful, shy, red merle girl named Levy, pronounced “Levee”, just joined our rescue and we feel like the lucky ones. She is a 7-year-old Australian Shepherd — but don’t let that fool you. This girl skipped the chaotic Aussie memo and went straight for the super-chill, gentle-soul edition 🫶🏼
Levy came to us through no fault of her own. Her owner suffered a major injury and could no longer care for her. She was clearly very loved, very well cared for, and our vet gave her a clean bill of health. Now she’s ready for her next chapter ❤️
At first, Levy is a little shy and skittish. Give her a bit of patience and a calm voice, and you’ll quickly unlock her true form: sweet, affectionate, and deeply devoted. She lives for back scratches, belly rubs, fresh air, and using her impressive super-sniffer while enjoying a good breeze. She’s very quiet and rarely barks, but she will greet you with the cutest little grunts, squeals, and occasional happy teeth-chattering when you come home 😂
Levy would thrive in a calm environment and may do best as an only dog. She gets along fine with other dogs but isn’t really interested in being besties. She prefers her people and her peace. Once she bonds with you, she becomes your loyal Velcro dog. She’s not a couch potato, but she’ll happily curl up at your feet and keep you company. We haven’t had her long, so she may blossom more with time.
She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys her daily walks. Car rides make her a bit nervous, though she bravely hops in and settles down once she realizes she’s safe. She doesn’t require a fenced yard since she does so well on leash, but if you have a fenced yard, supervision is important as she may try to dig under fencing. Levy is fully potty trained and quickly learns routines, including how to let you know when it’s time to go out.
If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle, loyal companion with a soft heart and a quirky little happy-noise soundtrack, Levy just might be your girl. 🐾

More about this rescue
We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.
Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
