Meet Stryder – The Gentle Old Soul Who Got a Second Chance Stryder is a 3-year-old, 45 lb Lab with the heart of an old soul. He reminds me of an old man sitting on the front porch, chatting about the weather and just taking life in. Calm, steady, and full of quiet love.
His story is a special one. His original owner passed away, and family members—who weren’t “dog people”—took him in. Through no fault of his own, he was taken to be put down. In a stroke of luck, rescue stepped in and Stryder came to us instead. His life didn’t end that day—it truly began again.
From the moment he walked in, it felt like he had always been here. He settled right in, caused no trouble, and just wanted to be near his people. Out of all the dogs I’ve fostered, he has been my favorite—such an easy, gentle guy. Stryder is the kind of dog who quietly follows you around, naps nearby, and makes every room feel softer just by being in it. He just wants to wander the world with his best friend by his side.
Stryder at a Glance:
3 years old • ~45 lbs
Neutered
Up to date on vaccines
On flea & heartworm prevention
Crate trained and well-mannered
Knows “sit”
Calm, easygoing, and affectionate
Great with other dogs, but would be just as happy as an only dog
If you’re looking for a low-key companion with a big heart and a beautiful second-chance story, Stryder is your boy. if you would like him to join your family fill out an adoption application. His $400 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, microchip, neuter and heartworm treatment, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY
