Meet Bougie! Bougie is for the person who wants a cat with personality and "pizazz." She is incredibly curious and wants to be involved in everything you do—perhaps supervising your morning coffee to helping you pick out your outfit for the day. She isn't just a pet; she’s a lifestyle upgrade.
If you’re looking for a cat who knows her worth, look no further. Bougie is a stunning girl who firmly believes that the front of the cage is her personal stage. While some cats are shy, Bougie is a socialite through and through. She doesn't hide in the shadows; she stays front and center, elegantly waiting for her next fan to stop by for a chat and a chin scratch.
Bougie is spayed, up-to-date on FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations and is FIV and FeLV negative.*
Bougie is staying at PetSmart in Northbrook. Head there to go visit during their open hours through the windows but please email cats@heartlandanimalshelter.org to schedule a time to meet them! PetSmart Northbrook is located at 291 Skokie Blvd, Northbrook, IL 60062 and is open Monday - Saturday 9am-8pm and Sunday 10am-7pm.
*TreeFrog, a cat that previously lived and free-roamed with this cat, has tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). Because this cat had close contact with TreeFrog — including sharing water dishes and free-roaming together — they are considered FeLV exposed for a 60-day period. FeLV can be transmitted through close contact, such as bite wounds, mutual grooming, and shared food or water bowls and litter boxes. FeLV has an incubation period of up to 60 days, during which a cat may test negative on SNAP antigen tests despite being infected. Due to this exposure, we recommend retesting 60 days after the last possible exposure date (after April 10, 2026). One FeLV SNAP antigen test and one FeLV quantitative PCR test would be performed at no charge to the adopter.
