My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kimchi!

Kimchi is a very shy four month old male kitten looking for a patient understanding human and calm quiet home to build his confidence in. Kimchi is an undersocialized young cat who needs a human that understands his nature and is willing to give him all the time and space he needs to come out of survival mode and adjust to his forever home. Kimchi would thrive with a human who will let him interact on his own terms and slowly help build his confidence with people over time. Kimchi may always be wary of new people and places and would do best in an environment that can accomodate his shy nature.

Kimchi came in with feline friends and seems to feel more comfortable in the presence of other cats. He may do best in a home that already has a cat in it, who can show him that life as a housecat is not so scary. However, we still recommend slow introductions between Kimchi and any cat companions in his forever home. A slow intro will help ensure that both Kimchi and his new feline friend(s) feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence.

Due to his sensitive nature, Kimchi would do best in a low-traffic home with no young children.

Are you someone who enjoys the journey of cat rescue and prefers to help a cat come out of their shell and feel safe? Kimchi may be the cat for you, stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today to meet him!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders.
