My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who is that panther comfortably napping on the cat tree? It’s Tony, a sleek black cat who recently became a tripod. He is a friendly boy who enjoys adoring pets and occasionally a warm lap for napping. Being on the young side, Tony has a good deal of playful energy and will bat at wand toys and chase catnip infused mice and crinkle balls. Tony is adjusting well to life on three legs; he can already climb steps and leap confidently to higher lookout spots. It will be important to maintain his lean build, and provide low-sided litter boxes and accessible furnishings to help minimize the challenges that can come with missing a hind leg.

Are you Tony’s new family? If you are looking to give a loving home to a beautiful, sweet cat who is learning the ropes of tripod life, and you’re willing to provide for his tripod needs as he matures, he just might be!

Adoption Requirements

To adopt a pet from PAWS Chicago, you must:
1. Be at least 21 years of age
2. Have a U.S. government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or state ID
3. Verify that you are allowed to have a pet of the breed and size where you currently live
4. Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your pet
5. Bring along all family members (including children) to meet your new cat or dog. Be sure to bring any resident dogs if you are adopting a dog.
6. Be able to take the pet home on the day of adoption
7. Be available to spend up to an hour with an Adoption Counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a pet and making a lifetime commitment

More about this shelter

PAWS Chicago is the city's largest No Kill humane organization, focused on solutions to end the killing of homeless pets.
