Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our very special group of FeLV+ kittens 💛 These sweet babies are looking for adoption heroes. Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is a cat-only virus that can shorten a cat’s lifespan. The important thing to know is that many FeLV+ cats can feel completely normal and happy for most of their lives however once they start to decline in health, there is no treatment or cure. FeLV is only contagious to other cats, so these kittens should go to a home with no other cats or with other FeLV+ feline friends such as their littermates! They cannot spread it to people, dogs, or other species. Adopting an FeLV+ kitten is a beautiful act of compassion. It means choosing to focus on quality over quantity — to fill their days with as much happiness as possible.
Ready to Adopt a Kitten?
You have two options:
#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available kittens in the shelter.
(Kittens in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT SIGHT UNSEEN
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the kitten first, we can help over the phone or by email. (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
Kittens are adopted on a first come, first served basis, and we’re not able to place holds on them.
All kitten adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies vaccination (if over 12 weeks of age)
-current on distemper vaccines (will need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-FeLV blood test
-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter
-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
