My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the Cats of Gettysburg at the Kitty Corner by Forever Love Rescue

Meet Gary, a devastatingly handsome black-and-white gentleman with a heart as soft as his tuxedo coat. This adult charmer is the definition of cool, calm, and collected — a true go-with-the-flow kind of kitty who takes life exactly as it comes (preferably with snacks along the way).

Gary is wonderfully social and does beautifully with other cats. He’s gentle, respectful, and has an easygoing nature that makes him compatible with people of all ages. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon on the couch or a cozy evening with the family, Gary is happiest when he’s near his people. He loves attention and will sweetly rub against your legs to remind you he’s there, then hop up to sit beside you on the furniture like the polite little gentleman he is. Yes — he can be picked up, and he handles it like the mellow teddy bear he truly is.

Speaking of teddy bears, that’s the best way to describe Gary’s personality. He’s soft-hearted, affectionate, and wonderfully steady. When it comes to pets, Gary prefers the classic approach: head and shoulders only, please. He’s not a fan of back-end touches, but keep those chin scratches and forehead rubs coming and you’ll have a very happy boy.

Now, let’s talk about Gary’s greatest passion: food. Gary is a major foodie. Treats? Yes. Wet food? Absolutely. Mealtime is his favorite time of day, and he takes it very seriously. Because he loves his wet food and treats so much, it may be best to feed him separately from other animals to ensure everyone gets their fair share. Gary’s enthusiasm is impressive — and honestly, kind of adorable.

He also has excellent taste in toys. Gary is a big fan of Yeowww catnip banana toys, and nothing delights him more than a little mellow play session with his favorite banana before settling back in for a nap.

Gary is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive), which simply means he has a feline-only virus that affects the immune system. FIV is commonly transmitted between cats through deep bite wounds, which are most often associated with unneutered outdoor cats. The important thing to know is that FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or other non-feline animals. Many FIV+ cats live long, happy, completely normal lives with good nutrition, regular veterinary care, and an indoor lifestyle. FIV+ cats can often live peacefully with other friendly cats, especially in stable homes where fighting is not an issue — and Gary’s gentle nature makes him a wonderful candidate for harmonious feline friendships.

Overall, Gary is a mellow, affectionate, snack-loving sweetheart with movie-star looks and a teddy bear soul. If you’re looking for a steady companion who will lounge beside you, politely request head scratches, and enthusiastically celebrate wet food time, Gary may just be your perfect match.

Please note that while we work hard to keep our available cats up to date we also have many  that are not posted yet.  Adoption fees are $60 for adult cats and kittens over 6 months old, $100 for kittens (under 6 months) and $30 for senior cats (7 years+) to help cover vet bills for spay/neuter, basic vaccinations, testing, microchips and preventatives.  No cat will be officially adopted without being spayed/neutered and vaccinated (unless there are health risks in doing so).  We highly recommend adopting kittens in pairs and we do discount for double adoptions here to encourage it.

We are always in need of donations to help us continue to save hundreds of cats and kittens every year.  Visit bit.ly/DonateFLR for more info. Be sure to check us out on Facebook at  bit.ly/KittyCornerFB and "LIKE" our page and share our posts!
