My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Cookie Monster was brought in by his previous owner on February 25, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Cookie Monster, a charming and affectionate feline who is ready to find his new home! True to his name, Cookie Monster is a big-hearted socialite who thrives on human companionship. Whether you are reading a book or watching a movie, you can expect him to be right there with you, happily claiming his spot as your personal lap warmer. Cookie Monster is known for his calm and gentle demeanor. He is a social butterfly who enjoys being the center of attention and greets everyone with a friendly nudge. While he is a very relaxed fellow, he does carry a little extra "fluff" and is currently a bit overweight. His new family will need to help him manage a healthy diet to ensure he stays happy and active for years to come. Because of his size and sturdy build, please be sure to bring an extra-large cat carrier for a comfortable ride home. If you are looking for a loyal, laid-back companion who will fill your home with love (and a little bit of extra cat to pet), Cookie Monster might just be the one for you!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
