My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aries showed up in the shed on my farm in late summer 2025. He was very shy at first but also very hungry and he started to come to me as soon as I entered the shed. He began to trust me and I started petting him...
Aries was neutered in December and came inside where he has turned into a very nice housecat. He is very clean, uses the litter box and there has been no spraying. He is very attached to me and always comes to be petted. He has a loud purr and he meows when I come into the room but is fairly quiet otherwise. He will meow once in a while but that is when he hears me close by or when my
house cat, Scout is getting his attention outside the door.
He is, at this time, not a cuddly cat, as in he doesn’t jump on my lap and he can be picked up but I don’t generally pick him up to carry around or cuddle, but he loves attention.

He is a big gorgeous cat, totally black with a nice coat, and weighs 10-12 lbs. He is about 2 years old (DOB Oct 31/2023)
Aries is good with human visitors and most other cats, but might also be happy as a single kitty.

Additional adoption info

Adoption involves an interview, a meeting and home visit (in person after Covid, currently virtual), vet references, and an adoption fee.
Our greatest concern is the animals that we care for, and matchmaking is what we do best..

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Most of our cats and all of our dogs are cared for in foster homes. They are not available to meet until your application has been started, you have been interviewed and approved.

Some of our cats may be featured in the Global Pet Foods store located in Alliston, ON and in Shelburne, ON.
And we occasionally hold "meet and greet" events at PetValu, 184 Front St., Toronto, ON.

In those cases, the adoption process is the same and conducted by CompassionForPaws - NOT by the staff at the store. We never do adoptions directly from an event but applications may be tendered.

More about this rescue

We are a network of compassionate individuals that care for homeless paws, in foster homes throughout Southern Ontario, until they can find a new, permanent place to call their own.

Shelly Hawley-Yan has more than 20 years experience in rescue, and the team of Debbie Hunt, Vickie Janetos, Andrea Maenza and Dale Reilly add another several decades of combined rescue experience.

Our adoptable paws come from shelters where the animals may not have been coping with that environment, or may have been surrendered by people whose lives have changed,

All paws have been vet checked and are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
