My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Rocco a 5yearold, 14pound terrier mix whose name means “rest,” which is hilarious because I’m more of a zoomfirst, cuddlelater kind of guy. I love turning the yard into my personal speedway, then settling in close like the world’s tiniest, sweetest shadow.

Favorite Things: Rocco is affectionate, curious and happiest when he’s with his people. He loves couch snuggles, greeting his humans with a joyful fullbody wiggle and showing off his impressive speed during yard zooms. Walks and new scents make him light up and while toys aren’t essential, companionship absolutely is.

Training and Manners: Rocco is housetrained with regular outdoor breaks and will let you know when he needs to go out. He sleeps soundly in his dog bed and settles well in a secure area when left alone. He walks nicely on a leash, comes when called and responds beautifully to gentle, positive guidance.

Health and Care: Rocco is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and will need monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives like any other dog. His grooming needs are simple: regular baths and nail trims. His nails have long quicks, so trims need to be done thoughtfully to keep him comfortable.

Other Animals: Rocco will thrive as the only pet in the home. He has shown reactivity toward other dogs and feels most relaxed without other animals around.

Children: Rocco would be comfortable in a home with dogsavvy teens who understand how to interact respectfully.

Ideal Home: Rocco needs a singlefamily home with a secure, fenced yard where he can run, dig and enjoy his signature “Roccorocket” bursts of energy. He may be vocal when first left alone but settles once he’s in his safe area. He’s perfect for someone who loves having a devoted, inquisitive little sidekick following them from room to room.

Overall: Rocco is loving, spirited and ready for a family who appreciates a small dog with a big personality. His mix of affection, curiosity, and joyful energy makes every day brighter, and he’ll bring warmth and loyalty to the home that chooses him.

Could Rocco be the one you’ve been looking for? Then head to www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like a match, his foster family will contact you. His adoption donation is $400.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
