My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grayson is a gorgeous 10 month old kitten with swirly gray and white fur and the most adorable expression.

Grayson initially joined our rescue at just five weeks old due to concern that he had hydrocephalus (an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain that does not drain properly). Grayson has had an MRI and neurology care at UC Davis and does not require treatment or surgery for his hydrocephalus. Despite the odds, Grayson has proven to be incredibly resilient. He approaches life with the sweetest attitude and a joyful spirit that’s impossible not to love.

Though he is blind, Grayson navigates his world with confidence and ease. He loves to play with a variety of toys and interacts beautifully with other cats. His curiosity is endless—he’s ready to explore “the world” (which, to him, means a safe and loving forever home).

Grayson would do best in a cat-only household, without dogs. He may do well with older, respectful children who understand his special needs.

Although he is not on any medications, Grayson has a few special needs that do require care and monitoring. He is on a gastrointestinal diet and daily probiotic that work very well for him and he should continue on this routine in his new home. Grayson also has some very mild and early changes to his labwork that suggest he may develop kidney disease and thus hydration and access to water with fountains and moist food will be important. Grayson should receive normal veterinary exams every 6-12 months.

His health needs are important, but his foster promises he makes it easy—Grayson is truly one of the easiest and most rewarding cats to love. Grayson deserves a home of his own, committed to his care and will support him along the way.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. For more information about this animal, please email yolospcafoster@gmail.com. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.

All of our felines have been altered prior to adoption. Kittens have been given their first shots of FVRCP, adults are up-to-date on vaccinations, and all cats have been Feline Leukemia tested (negative) and micro chipped. The fee to adopt is $150 for one kitten or $100 for adults over 1 year (the fee helps cover these costs and the cost of the microchip registration).  A reduced fee is available for adopting a second cat or kitten
