My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Licorice!

This boy is truly a man's best friend. He is a little rough around the edges from his days roaming the streets but once you win him over he loves to cuddle up to your leg and chill in sun beams.

Ways to his heart:

Head scratches
A good ole brushing
and lots and lots of food and treats

This boy will greet you with a cautious hiss but as soon as he sees that it's his person he turns into a little kitten with his curious meows. He is full of personality and waiting for someone to shower him with love and churu.

Think you could be Licorice's person? Here's how to find out:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
