My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LIONESS AND TINO (SISTER AND BROTHER) ARE A BONDED PAIR THAT WILL BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. BOTH, BUT ESPECIALLY LIONESS, NEED SPECIAL ATTENTION TO CONTINUE SOCIALIZING WITH PEOPLE. POTENTIAL ADOPTERS WILL BE SCREENED TO FIND THE RIGHT MATCH FOR THEIR NEEDS.

My brother and I were rescued as frightened feral strays a few weeks ago. They kept us together so we would have comfort as we learned to feel safe. One or more people worked with us multiple times everyday to show us love and build trust. We were well taken care of, so we began to play together and quickly learned to play with several different toys. Now we often seem happy-go-lucky in our kennel, playing with a ball chase tower and the hanging toy, jumping from one level to another to follow the other. We are never out of our kennel except to be in an enclosed playpen adding electronic toys to play with and wand toys slipped in that we love. Tino has the best time, and I watch, sometimes joining in. I`m still very carefully watching hands that bring food and treats near me, but don`t run anymore. Tino is more calm, but I still hiss once most times at a hand coming to pet me or pick me up, but that`s all. In an enclosed space, this works. I`m tense, but can relax into a snuggle, and sometimes purr. It must be forced, I don`t do this voluntarily yet! If let loose, I am sure to take off and find a place to hide. Giving me treats, sweet talk and bringing a wand toy will help me relax some then. This is where I`m counting on more special people to help me. Tino will happily lend a hand! We both have been very curious and interested in meeting other cats and kittens we encounter though! I`m very beautiful and have a gentle nature that will be wonderful to see blossoming!

More about this shelter

The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.

Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.

Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
