Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gutter may look like a tiny shadow at first glance, but behind those bright eyes is a sweet kitten just waiting for his person. 🖤
When Gutter first arrived in foster care, he seemed very shy and preferred to stay hidden. Being almost entirely black—with only a few white hairs—he can disappear like a little mini-panther, leaving only two curious eyes peeking out from the shadows. But it didn’t take long for his true personality to shine through. Just a day later, it was like someone flipped a switch! Suddenly Gutter was seeking out his foster for pets and attention like a long-lost friend finally reunited. With a little patience and space to come to you on his own terms, he’ll likely do the same in his forever home.
Gutter is still figuring out some of the things other kittens seem to know right away. The litter box? He’s got that mastered—no problem there. And when he’s touching you, his claws stay politely tucked away. Toys, however, are still a bit of a mystery. A wand toy once left him looking more confused than playful, as if “fun” is a brand-new concept he’s just starting to explore. With time, his inner kitten may blossom, but for now his favorite activity is simple: lots and lots of pets.
And don’t stop too soon! If you do, Gutter will gently push his head right back under your hand asking for more. When he’s had his fill, he’s happy to settle nearby—or even right on top of you—for a cozy rest. When his people aren’t around, he enjoys spending time at a window seat watching the outside world go by.
Gutter hasn’t met the resident cats in his foster home yet, but he shows lots of curiosity and no signs of fear or aggression. With proper introductions and a little patience, he may do well with other pets.
This little shadow just needs a patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence. Give Gutter a little time, and you may just discover the sweetest companion hiding in the shadows. 🐾
All CSHS kitties are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, FIV/FeLV test (if not born in care), dewormed and microchipped.

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue
Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.
In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.
CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
