Hello, I’m Winter. A lovely name for a lovely lady, if you ask me. I came to the shelter after my previous family had to make the difficult decision to surrender me when their daughter developed allergies. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, but now I’m hoping to find a new home where I can settle in and be someone’s special companion. I’m the kind of cat who appreciates affection—but on my terms. When I’m in the mood for love, I’m very happy to curl up in your lap for a cozy cuddle. Head scratches are one of my favourite things, and I do enjoy attention from my people. That said, I’m also a bit of an independent lady. When I’ve had enough petting, I’ll make sure you know. I just like my boundaries respected. Being picked up is definitely not my favourite activity, and I would much rather keep my paws on the ground and come to you when I’m ready for affection. My tail is also a bit of a “look but don’t touch” zone. I would really prefer to be the only animal in the home, as I’m not a fan of sharing my space with other cats. I’m also not very comfortable around children or strangers at first, so a quieter home with patient adults who understand cat body language would suit me best. The volunteers here say that once I’m comfortable, I show my sweeter side. I can be playful, gentle, and I truly enjoy attention from the people I trust. Sometimes I can get a little overstimulated during petting and might give a quick bat to let you know I need a break—but really, I’m just trying to communicate. If you’re someone who appreciates a cat with a little personality, who will cuddle up with you when she’s feeling loving and keep you company in her own special way, I might just be the perfect Winter companion for you.
