My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Slater and Slash!

This dynamic duo is as cool as they come and twice as sweet! Slater and Slash were surrendered to us when their owner was no longer able to care for them, but they wasted no time settling in and showing everyone just how wonderful they are! These boys are confident, easygoing, and full of personality. They’re major foodies, love to play, and are always happy to soak up affection from their favorite humans. Wherever one goes, the other is never far behind... they truly are the best of friends!

Slater and Slash are FeLV+. Feline Leukemia Virus affects the immune system and is a lifelong condition. The virus cannot be spread to humans or dogs, but it is contagious to other cats through close contact and shared items. Because of this, they should live in a home without other cats unless the resident cat is also FeLV+ or vaccinated against the virus. Right now, both boys are feeling great! Slash even recently had surgery to correct a goopy eye, something that can be common in FeLV+ cats, and he’s recovering beautifully.

While there is still a lot we don’t know about how FeLV progresses for each individual cat, what we do know is that Slater and Slash are truly incredible companions who deserve a loving home to call their own. They are affectionate, fun-loving boys who would likely do great with kids and could potentially live with a dog given a proper introduction.

If you would like to take a chance on two cats that may have a harder time finding a home, you absolutely will not regret choosing Slater and Slash! With any questions, email cats@rispca.org

Additional adoption info

Matchmaking is what we love to do. We do our very best to find the best fit for the pets awaiting adoption at the Rhode Island SPCA. The first step to adopting a dog from the Rhode Island SPCA is filling out an adoption application. If your application is selected, you will be contacted and asked if you would like to schedule a meet & greet. Because of the volume of applications we receive, sometimes we can only respond to the selected applicant. You are always welcome to contact us anytime about the status of your application at adoption@rispca.com.
