My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zip is a nice young greyhound boy who just turned 2 years old in February. He has a very flashy red brindle coat with white on his chest and a small white spot on his neck. At his racing kennel, his call name was "Spot" because of the white spot. Zip is a smaller greyhound boy at just 67 lbs. He is already home acclimated, loves people, and is friendly and social. He has lived in a home with small dogs and other greyhounds. Although he got along with all of them, we found that he was too playful to be with tiny dogs like Italian greyhounds. He would do best with a little larger dog, about 20 lbs. or more. Zip rides fine in a cat, has good house manners, and has shown an excellent temperment with adults and children. We took him to large festival with a lot of noise and hundreds of people and Zip took it all in stride beautifully. He still wants to pull a little on a leash, so we have been using a Halti collar or gentle leader with him. He does great with that. Zip would be a good choice for a family with well mannered children who know how to treat a dog gently or with someone who wants a greyhound for therapy work. Greyhounds make great therapy dogs, and because Zip is gentle and friendly, he should do very well. We recommend "Paws for Friendship" to have him certified as a therapy dog and to begin this wonderful and needed work. Like all dogs of his age, Zip still has some puppyish tendencies. He will need either a fenced yard or a 20-30 minute walk every day. His new family will also need to keep chewable items such as shoes, TV remotes, cell phones, or important papers out of his reach. If you are gone from home for long periods of time, it is also recommended that you crate Zip, at least for the first 30 days or so until he is completely comfortable in his new surroundings. Zip is one of the prettiest and sweetest brindle greyhounds around and will be a wonderful companion for the right family.
