My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hershey’s Kisses
1 year old Female Chocolate Persian
Call foster parent for adoption fee

With her warm, brown coat and large, copper eyes, Hershey is an exquisite cat. She and her bosom buddy, Cocoa Puff, the equally gorgeous Sealpoint Himalayan, came to us from a breeder in Northern California who could no longer keep them. At just a year old, these two are barely out of kittenhood, but as sometimes happens, they missed the nurturing, cuddling, and socialization one would wish for all kittens--especially kittens of breeds normally so receptive to human affection. Fortunately, they have spent the last three months in the home of a foster mom who has the skills required to teach shy kitties to trust a human caregiver.

At this point, Hershey’s Kisses is happy to accept pets and cuddles, but her adopters will still need to be patient, letting her come to them and sniff for several minutes before reaching out. On the basis of her experience, their foster mom feels that Hershey will grow into being "a total love bug, given time.” Hershey loves to be brushed, and given that Persians require daily brushing, her enjoyment of this activity has two felicitous implications: one is that her adopters will be able to keep her from getting matted, and the other is that one can use the daily experience of brushing to cultivate a luxurious intimacy with a Persian cat.

Hershey and Cocoa Puff enjoy the company of other cats but would be alarmed by children. They need a peaceful home with a single person or a couple who will quietly cherish them, rejoicing in those increasingly frequent purrs that are signs of growing trust and the eventual emergence of love. Time in foster care only begins the process of recovery for an abandoned cat. It is your own love that completes the healing process.

If you are touched by Hershey’s face and story, please take the time to read about Cocoa Puff also, and if you believe you are the one to offer these sensitive kitties the love they deserve, call their foster mom, Jennifer.
Hershey is microchipped, current on shots, negative for FIV/FeLV, and litterbox perfect.
