My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in adopting a Lone Star Labrador, please go our web site and complete an application www.LoneStarLabRescue.org

How about some Chocolate kisses?? You can have as many as you want and best of all, these kisses won’t make you gain any weight!

Meet Cinnie. She’s a 3-4 month old chocolate drop that will melt your heart!
She was found by a Good Samaritan and Lone Star took her into our program to be sure that she finds a wonderful home.

Cinnie will be a big girl when fully grown. She’s a good sized puppy already! We know she will grow into those big feet!! One of the cutest things about Cinnie is her tail. She doesn't have the signature otter tail that is usual on our breed. Cinnie has a little nubby tail! Don’t worry... it still wags like every other tail, it’s just shorter. We aren’t sure how it got that way. It could have been damaged before birth or it may have been docked when she was born. Don’t tell Cinnie that she has a short tail; she doesn't know!!!

Several Lone Star volunteers have already fallen in love with her; her little tail just makes her cuter! Think of it this way…. with Cinnie, you can still have a coffee table :-)

Cinnie is fostered with an adult male and an adult female Labradors. She’s learned so much from them already. She knows to go outside to potty, but we do have some accidents now and again. She'll grow out of this as she gets older. She knows to RUN to her crate when it is time to eat. Everyone in her foster home is fed in their own crates, so that we have no tiffs over food. She sits nicely for a treat, too.

Cinnie LOVES to carry a squeaky toy around and make noise with it. She’s learning to play with the big dogs. She will even try to take the bones or toys from the big dogs. Sometimes she does, other times they tell her to go away! She takes it all in stride.

The perfect home for Cinnie would have an adult dog to show her the ropes and play with her, as well as a fenced back yard. She will also need an owner who will make sure she gets a break during the day. At only about 4 months old, she’s still too young to go all day without a bathroom break. Cinnie will need someone to take her to training and help her become the diamond we all know she will become. Oh and they have to love her as much as her foster mom does!!

Puppies do best with an experienced dog owner that understands the needs and behavior of a young Lab. Obedience training and crating are essential with young Labs, as well as plenty of exercise. Due to their age, however, they must not be run on hard surfaces, like the street, for long distances until they are at least 2 years old.

Taking responsibility for another life, whether it is a human or a pet, is a big task that should not be taken lightly. Responsible pet owners realize the seriousness of this decision and count their pets as their family members because of the emotional bond they create with this pet. A dog relies on you for everything - food, water, shelter, leadership, exercise, grooming, training, veterinary care, companionship and protection. Are you ready?

Labs do not fully mature until they are about 2-3 years old. In the meantime, they have boundless energy, love to chew on everything and need lots of exercise and attention. Be sure that you are prepared to raise a well behaved dog and committed to work through those challenging years! Ask to meet this beautiful pup! Cinnie is just getting her 2nd set of shots and will be met by appointment to keep her from picking up any doggie viruses.

Adoption fee for puppies is $375, with an additional $50 deposit, which is refundable upon receipt of proof of spay or neuter.
