Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:2 Balthazar is a 4-year-old Balinese mix with an elegant bearing and a contemplative nature. This handsome fellow, with his striking blue eyes and colorpoint coat, carries himself with quiet dignity, preferring to observe from the safety of his bed while he decides whether the world outside deserves his participation.   Recent weeks have revealed glimpses of the cat Balthazar could become—he accepts gentle pets with closed eyes and tilted chin, shows surprising enthusiasm for wand toys when the mood strikes, and has developed a particular fondness for treats that momentarily breaks through his reserved exterior. Balthazar needs experienced guardians who understand that wisdom comes slowly; who can provide the calm, predictable environment where an undersocialized cat like him can gradually unfold; and who won't mistake his quietness for disinterest. He would flourish with a feline companion from his former household or a gentle resident cat who can show him that domestic life is worth embracing. If you have the patience to earn the trust of an old soul who's still learning that the world can be kind, Balthazar may one day reveal himself to be the affectionate, playful companion his recent progress suggests is waiting beneath that cautious exterior. Note: This cat is under-socialized and will do best in a calm home with a patient, cat-experienced guardian who can give them the time and space they need to settle in and build trust. A quiet environment is essential, as busy households or homes with young children will feel overwhelming for them. They have lived with other cats before (some of whom are also at OAS) and would thrive being adopted with one of their feline friends or joining a home with a gentle, resident cat. Story
My client recently went into assisted living and isn’t coming home. He has a 16 years old very loving little sweet girl. I think she’s a ragdoll or BalineseThe family is unable to take care of her and I don’t know what to do. I’m trying my best to rehome her. She’s got a lot of love in her and she’s an indoor outdoor cat. Independent as cats will be I don’t know if she’s good with other cats or dogs, but I’m sure she is because . She just keeps to herself. She likes to cuddle occasionally, but mostly does her own thing. I just feel real bad. I don’t know what to do and I’ve gotta find her at home. If you can contact me I’d appreciate it. Thank you. She is box trained but recently has accidents and hairballs. But I think she is missing her human. I’m hoping someone will share her later years with he. Thank you

These cats are in Piedmont, California too!

Best Match: Seeking an adopter with moderate cat experience Could join a quiet home with cat savvy teens Part of a bonded pair Needs a home without dogs Need to be indoor only Ollie takes daily medication for blood pressure Pip and Ollie are an adorable pair of bonded boys looking for a hero adopter. While initially on the reserved side with new people, once you’ve befriended them, their sweet nature just shines through. As a bonded pair, Pip and Ollie share a deep connection. They sleep together other under the covers, and often groom each other. Both boys enjoy evening escapades, and Ollie even has a nightly routine where he inspects every room in the house, which is very cute. Despite being older cats, this duo can also be quite playful!  Ollie prefers playing with toy mice and balls he can chase, and is happy to entertain himself. As the more outgoing cat of this duo, he loves seeking out attention from his humans for chin scritches! He can still easily startle, so a calm home with a patient adopter will be ideal for him. Ollie also takes a heart medication pill. It’s very easy to administer — he adores munching his pill pocket treats! Pip is sweet and friendly — it just takes a little more time and patience for him to get comfortable with people. Once he feels at home, Pip will play by chasing after mice and leaping high in the air to bat at ribbon toys. He’ll keep you entertained with his acrobatics!  A great way to win this shy lad's trust is by offering treats. Pip and Ollie are ready to be adopted with all of their supplies to make their transition easier. That includes a blood pressure monitor and  complimentary high blood pressure monitoring training — and Cat Town will cover Ollie's blood pressure medication for life.  Pip and Ollie are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. These distinguished gentlemen are waiting patiently for the great love of their lives. Might that be you? And did we mention handsome? Those intense blue eyes!   Blaze is still learning that humans are not toys, so consistent, gentle interactions- paired with lots of wand toy play and enrichment- will be the avenue to success. He is a smart, curious, and slightly needy boy who is going to be a fun and loving companion for the right household. He may do best in a home with another cat who can match his energy.   Blaze is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
