Story
Fernie is a fun little gal who spent two months in a foster home- here’s what we learned:- She is very quiet and mellow- She’s a couch potato who loves affection- She loves sleeping on the couch- She is housetrained and great on car rides- She is food motivated and knows basic commands like sit - She was described by her foster as an excellent houseguest During another brief foster stay Fernie was a quiet houseguest who was friendly with people and loved getting belly rubs.Fernie is also a field trip favorite- a favorite buddy for members of the community to pick up and take out on the town! She’s been described by some of her friends as loving, patient, joyful, easygoing, cuddly and affectionate.“Fernie is an amazing dog that was very go-with-the-flow on our trip today. She was curious, non-reactive to other dogs and stimuli, food motivated, and quick to relax in the car. She loves all the pets.”“Fernie has the best temperament and loves to cuddle. She loves walks and toys. Fernie is very smart and knows the way to your heart.”Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:“Fernie is a friendly sweet little girl. She was easy to leash up in her kennel and walk over to the play yard. Once in the yard she explored for a little bit and then came over to me for love and treats. She climbed up into my lap and gave me a couple kisses before returning to explore the yard. She’s a nice balance of independent and people oriented. She would alternately explore the yard and then come over to me for snuggles. She has the most stinking adorable face!!”Fernie shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit and may prefer a home without young kiddos. Ask to meet Fernie today!

Story
❤️‍🩹🐾 MEET CORKY — A DISTEMPER SURVIVOR WHO DESERVES A LIFETIME OF LOVE! 🐾❤️‍🩹 ✨ He survived the streets. He survived distemper. Now, he needs someone willing to see the beautiful soul behind his scars. ✨ 💔 From the streets of Nogales, Arizona, to the chance of a brand-new beginning, Corky’s journey hasn’t been easy. But this gentle boy has already fought so hard to be here, and we believe his story deserves a chapter filled with safety, comfort, and unconditional love. ❤️ When Corky was found wandering the streets of southern Arizona, he wasn’t doing well. The person who found him couldn’t bring him home, but she refused to let him become just another forgotten dog. She visited him at Santa Cruz Animal Care & Control every single day. When the possibility of euthanasia became heartbreakingly real, she pulled him to safety. Not because she was looking for another dog, but because she couldn’t bear the thought of walking away. 💔 And that chance? It’s brought Corky here. To the next chapter. To the possibility of finally having a family of his own. 🐾 BUT CORKY’S STORY COMES WITH SOMETHING EVERY POTENTIAL ADOPTER NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND. 🐾 💙 Corky is a distemper survivor. While he made it through this devastating disease, he was left with neurological tics and the classic distemper teeth. These are part of his story, and they mean he needs an adopter who understands that special dogs sometimes need a little extra knowledge, patience, and compassion. We aren’t looking for just anyone to adopt Corky. We’re looking for a savvy, committed adopter who understands his needs, sees beyond his neurological differences, and is ready to give him a safe, loving home for the rest of his life — however long that may be. ❤️‍🩹 Not every happy ending looks the same. Sometimes, it looks like a soft place to land. A familiar voice. A cozy bed. A person who never gives up on you. And the peace of knowing you are finally home. 🏡💕 ✨ GET TO KNOW CORKY! ✨ 🐶 Approximately 3–4 years old ⚖️ Around 50 pounds 💙 Distemper survivor with neurological tics ✂️ Neutered 💉 Vaccinated 🏡 Housebroken 🦮 Walks nicely on leash 🐕 Gets along well with others 🥰 Gentle, calm, affectionate, and well-behaved Corky doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone who will believe in him, advocate for him, and love him exactly as he is. Someone who understands that adopting a special-needs survivor is a commitment — not a temporary act of kindness. Someone who will celebrate his good days, navigate his challenges, and make sure he never has to wonder where he belongs again. 💙🐾 We can’t promise Corky how many years he has ahead of him. But we hope we can help him find someone who will make those years count. Someone who will give him all the love, comfort, dignity, and security he deserves. Corky has fought hard for his second chance. Will you be the person who makes it a forever one? 🥹❤️ 🏡 READY TO GIVE CORKY THE HOME HE DESERVES? 💌 Apply to adopt through Paws Without Borders: https://airtable.com/appLYepkMeqjx3Tjh/shrtcmS9tSiQOQdxMN 🙏 Can’t adopt? PLEASE SHARE Corky’s story! His person may be out there right now, just waiting to find him. One share could be the reason his future finally changes. 💙 Because every survivor deserves more than simply surviving. They deserve to LIVE, to be LOVED, and to know what it feels like to finally belong. 🐾❤️ #MeetCorky #DistemperSurvivor #SpecialNeedsDog #AdoptDontShop #SecondChanceDog #RescueDogLove #ArizonaRescue #TucsonAdoptables #PimaAdoptables #PawsWithoutBorders #AdoptASurvivor #GiveCorkyAChance
