Story
Meet Tony, a charming three-year-old Basenji mix with a heart as sweet as his demeanor. This loving boy is on the lookout for a forever home where he can share his affection and companionship with a loving family like yours. When Tony arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from our partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. Despite this diagnosis, the staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Tony to be during treatments and recovery is in a caring and permanent home like yours. If you choose to welcome Tony into your family, our clinic staff will be there every step of the way, providing guidance, answering questions, and offering support throughout the treatment process. Typically lasting around three months, the treatment involves simple at-home steps to ensure Tony's safety and comfort as he recovers. The final step includes a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. It's important to note that the Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and our staff is optimistic that Tony will make a full recovery! Plus, it's crucial to understand that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes, so there's no risk to humans. If you're interested in meeting Tony and giving him the loving home he deserves, we invite you to visit us during our adoption hours. For more information or to inquire about Tony, please email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 ext. 90. Our dedicated staff will be more than happy to assist you. Let's make Tony's dreams of a forever home come true! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians
