Weighing between 15 and 16 pounds, about 2 yrs old and she came to us from deep South Texas after being found wandering the streets. She had no microchip, collar, or identification and had not been spayed…an all-too-familiar story in that area. Dolly is very submissive, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and is incredibly friendly with people once she settles in. More than anything, she simply loves to be held and loved on. If you’re looking for a loving little companion you can take almost anywhere…one who adores people, enjoys other dogs, and has a wonderful temperament…Dolly is just about as perfect as they come. Coraline, a young Basenji mix, also known as the "barkless" dog, was first brought into our program along with five other friends who were previously living in a hoarding situation. This means Coraline will need someone to show her that she no longer has to spend her life in the shadows. She has shown the SNIPSA staff her gentle spirit and affectionate heart. We know that with patience from her adoptive family, Coraline can be her most confident self. She is currently being crate trained, leash trained, and house trained. With tender care from her foster, Coraline will continue to flourish. We know she's wise! We know she's brave! So, what's the tricky part? Coraline prefers a GOOD meal and will trick whoever is serving her dinner into including some wet food on the side. Meet Mary Ann and Ginger, an adorable bonded pair of medium-sized rescue dogs who are searching for their forever home. These super cute girls have spent their entire lives on their own until they were recently rescued. Despite their rough beginnings, Mary Ann and Ginger are incredibly sweet and are now learning to enjoy the comforts of a loving home. Both Mary Ann and Ginger get along wonderfully with other dogs, though they haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet. They need a patient adopter who will give them the time and space they need to adjust to their new surroundings and discover the joys of being cherished pets. Ginger, who bravely underwent heartworm treatment, is now healthy and heartworm negative. Both dogs are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. They even tolerate baths and absolutely love being petted. Currently, Mary Ann and Ginger are being fostered in Seguin, TX, where they are receiving the care and love they deserve. I am pretty sure my rescuers were HUNGRY when they named us. Cashew is my name and I am as delightful as a sweet n nutty n salty treat. My babies were named after food too! Who names puppies Chicken, Banana and Raisin?? Hungry rescuers! When we were found, we were HUNGRY TOO! We were "living" at a gas station in the 90 to 100 degree temperatures and unbelievable flooding. 🌧 We are SURVIVORS! As mama to this crew I was so very scared for our safety but was also scared of the people helping us... fast forward to today! I love my people and my babies are growing and finding their own homes. Rescued from the streets and brought to the Weslaco shelter with a severely embedded collar that was put on as a puppy and never removed as he grew. Tito spent his life on the streets after fleeing his home, before finally finding safety. Now, he’s ready for the love and stability of a forever home. Though he needs a brief warm-up period to feel secure, Tito quickly shows his affectionate side. He loves other dogs and is especially nurturing toward puppies, making him a wonderful companion for a household with another dog. Until he feels fully safe, he’ll do best with a harness and leash to help him build trust. Tito is playful, gentle, and longing for a family to call his own.
