Story
Hey y'all, I'm Mint Julep, sweet, spirited, and just a little bit spicy! Think Southern charm meets Arctic energy. I'm 1 years old, meaning I've mastered the art of zoomies, dramatic side eye, and stealing hearts (and socks)! I was born to be fabulous, my fur is runway-ready, my howl is top volume, and my attitude? Unapologetically confident!

Story
Looking for an active, smart boy who would love a structured home with plenty of exercise?  Chevy is your guy!     Chevy has been in our program for a few years now as he needs to go to that perfect home that understands him and his needs.  You see, Chevy is a working/herding breed of dog and was on his own to fend for himself for so long on the rough streets of Houston that he's leery of people until he gets to know you.  Chevy had been living under a truck for a while (it was a Chevy) while a Scout's Honor volunteer was working to gain his trust. He kept going every day to feed him and give him some attention. The business near where he was let him come onto their property and provided him some shelter.  Unfortunately, because there was a busy street nearby, Chevy got bumped by a few cars when he was out and about and lost a few teeth as a result.  Luckily, he did not sustain any significant injuries, and just needed to eat and get a bath.  Fast-forward a few years, Chevy is in boarding and loves other dogs and loves to play !  He is a high energy dog, but is also very smart and alert. He needs A LOT of exercise and positive reinforcement, but will pick up very quickly on what you are teaching him. He would be a great dog for agility or flyball!!  As long as you keep him busy and challenged he will impress you with how well he can learn things. He just wants someone who will give him the direction, attention and structure he wants/needs. He would make a great dog for an active home with NO kiddos.  Kiddos are just too unpredictable for this guy.  He also needs a home that understands how to properly introduce him to new people and watch his cues.  Chevy can be very protective of his people and area, so proper intros are a must.  He would do best in a home that does not have a lot of new people coming in/out. True to his Kelpie/Basenji breed, Chevy likes to herd and run and play .  Check out this video of him just having a grand time running - look at those turns!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L81s-TWX9SA&feature=youtu.be  Kelpie's/Basenji's are unique problem solvers and will find a way to do whatever he deems necessary.  True to these breed, he will also be fierlcy protective of his family (getting back to proper intros).  Chevy fits these traits to a T, and anyone who knows and loves the herding breeds would just adore little Chevy!!   Chevy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped.   Please contact us at info@scoutshonor.org if you are interested in fostering or adopting this precious guy!  You can read all about our foster and adoption process, as well as make a donation for his care, on our website at www.scoutshonor.org.    Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs January 22, 2025, 6:49 pm

Story
I was found wandering around Hermann Park on November 8th. While I do have a microchip, I have sadly not been able to get in contact with my owners. I am looking for a new home that can give me lots of love and attention. I really enjoy playing ball, cuddling, and going on walks. I do have lots of energy, so I will need a home with a yard or a family who is very active! I have experience with cats and other dogs, and we have gotten along just fine. I just went to the vet to get up to date on all my vaccines & heartworm/ flea & tick prevention! They said I am probably around 1 year old. I am house trained, know how to sit on command, and eventually will settle down when put in a crate (although I would prefer to sleep in the bed with you).

Story
If you’re looking for a young, fun loving energetic new family member, Diane may be just what you need in your life. Diane’s estimated date of birth is February 10, 2024. The shelter listed Diane as a lab, but we think she has basenji and boxer traits. Whatever she is, she is C U T E. Diane has a curious personality and loves exploring the world around her. She likes playing in water from the hose playing in her puppy pool. She also enjoys racing or wrestling with the other dogs in her foster home.Diane is treat motivated and quickly learned sit, paw and lay down. She also learned how to lift the lid of the cookie display at the local pet store and help herself. She is well supervised in the store now to avoid a shoplifting charge. We don’t know what happened early in Diane’s life. What we do know is that our local shelter put out a plea for two pups with broken bones who needed crate rest. Active Paws Rescue quickly stepped up for both. We named them Jack and Diane. Jack had a broken front paw and recovered with limited activity and rest. Diane’s case was a little more complicated. She had breaks in both back legs. Her left tibia had a nonunion that was acting like a hinge. Her right femur was misaligned and needed surgical repair. Her incredible surgeon has released her to full activity and doesn’t expect any complications. Diane is fully vetted, kennel trained and housetrained. Diane will do best in a home with a fenced yard and a dog with a similar activity level.
