Story
Meet Baloo! 🐾✈️ This handsome guy made the long journey all the way from Djibouti and is now ready to find his forever home! Our best guess is that Baloo is a Basenji-Saluki mix, and he’s every bit as unique as that sounds. He has put on some healthy weight since arriving and is now 35lbs. Baloo has a gorgeous tan and white ticked coat and soulful eyes that tell the story of his journey. He can be a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, his loving personality shines through. He warms up quickly to other dogs and will absolutely need a confident dog companion in his new home to help him continue to blossom. He has also gotten along great with the resident cat in his foster home. Baloo is crate and house trained and since being in his foster home has learned the ropes of life in a home—he has warmed up to his foster family and the resident pack. He came into foster care not knowing any basic house manners or training and is doing so great with a solid routine and continued reinforcement. He will need a patient adopter committed to helping him continue to become just as great as he can be! If you’re ready to help a special pup, write the next chapter of his life, Baloo might be the one for you. Baloo is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Joey is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and playful dog who loves to cuddle and make his people laugh. However, he is not a city dog—urban life truly overwhelms him. The constant noise, traffic, and commotion cause him significant fear and anxiety, which you can see in his body language: his tail tucks, he shakes, and he becomes visibly stressed even during short trips outside to use the bathroom. Joey has worked with professional trainers, a behaviorist, and is currently on medication to help manage his anxiety, but the environment remains too stimulating for him to feel secure. He does have some aggressive tendencies, particularly when on leash or around unfamiliar dogs, though he adores his 11-year-old Lab mix sister and gets along wonderfully with her. Joey thrives when he has space to run freely—his true personality shines when he’s off leash in an open area, where he’s happy, goofy, and at ease.

Story
Meet Mora – The Sweet Girl Who’s Ready for a Second Chance at Love Mora’s story is one of resilience, patience, and hope. She’s a beautiful 4-year-old Jindo mix, weighing around 35 lbs — the perfect midsize companion. But her journey hasn’t been easy. Mora was just 10 months old when her original family gave her up, simply because they didn’t have enough time to care for her. Without hesitation, they left her at a commercial pet shop in Korea, where unwanted dogs are placed in hopes of finding another family — but for Mora, that day never came. She spent the next three long years in a small, confined space without a single adoption inquiry. No one came for her. No one asked about her. Yet Mora never lost hope. Finally, her fate changed when one of our amazing volunteers discovered her. Mora was pulled from the pet shop and brought to our safehouse, where she received the love and care she had been missing for so long. Her sweetness and gentle nature shined through instantly — she wasn’t broken, just waiting for someone to see her worth. In December, Mora made her way to the U.S. and has been living with a foster family ever since. This transition has been a whole new world for her, and she’s adjusting beautifully to life in a home. She loves her daily walks and doesn’t pull on the leash. She’s smart, eager to learn, and has already mastered basic commands like sit, stay, and down. She’s polite in the house, learns quickly when gently corrected, and has a heart full of love to give. She loves to go to the dog park and run with another dog. Sometimes she nips the other dog lightly trying to get them to play with her, but the foster mom is trying to redirect her to find better ways to initiate the play differently. (She is making a good progress!) Like many rescue dogs, Mora can be a bit shy the first day or two when meeting new people. But once she realizes she’s safe, her walls come down, and her affectionate, sweet personality shines. She’ll wag her tail, nudge you for pets, and look into your eyes with nothing but pure love and gratitude. In her foster home, she barks briefly when a stranger enters the house, but she quickly stops when reassured. She’s learning that the world isn’t scary anymore — it’s full of love, and she’s finally starting to believe it. Mora will be perfect for a family or an individual that are physically active, and she will make a perfect hiking partner. She enjoys outdoors, and adapts very well to a new environment. When she is at home with her foster family, she is pretty quiet. She does bark when she hears a door bell or sees unexpected visitors, but stops quickly. What Mora wants more than anything is a family who will never give up on her again. She’s not asking for much — just a warm bed, daily walks, and a human who will love her forever. After spending over three years of her life being overlooked, we know she’s destined for something special — and we hope that special family is you. Mora has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and is ready to begin her new life. If you’re someone who understands the profound joy of rescuing a dog — of watching them transform, blossom, and heal — then Mora is waiting for you. She will return your love tenfold, and the bond you build with her will be unlike any other. We often say that the most incredible dogs are the ones who’ve had a difficult start but never gave up hope. Mora is one of those dogs. She’s been waiting far too long for her happy ending — and we believe her perfect family is out there. Could it be you? If you’d like to apply to adopt Mora, please fill out an application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1u_YTSKWFVkNYLUcJbCVvfyQnguL-gHi8JGG59XOIIog/edit Meet-and-greets are available upon request once your application has been reviewed. We require a completed application, a brief interview (by phone or in-person), and a virtual or photo home check. Please note: We have a 30-mile radius adoption policy from Fairfax, VA.
