Story
Hi there… I’m Birdie 🐾🤎I’m a beautiful tricolored Basset Hound girl with soulful deep brown eyes that always seem to have a story to tell. I’m 4 years old, weigh about 35 pounds, and I’m the perfect mix of sweet cuddle bug and playful adventurer. 💕 Life wasn’t always easy for me. When I was just a puppy, I was abandoned and left starving, so food is something I take very seriously. Because of that, I do need to be fed separately from other pets to make sure everyone stays safe and happy. Once dinner time is over though, I’m right back to being everyone’s best friend. 🥰 I’m highly intelligent and eager to please, which makes training me a breeze! I already know commands like “no,” “sit,” and my name, and I’m always excited to learn more—especially if snacks are involved. 😋 I’m fully house trained, kennel trained, and I know how to use a doggie door when I have access to one. I absolutely adore children and do wonderfully with elderly folks too. I’m a gentle, loving girl who would happily spend hours curled up beside you on the couch soaking up cuddles and affection. 🛋️🤍 But don’t let these short little legs fool you—I’ve also got plenty of energy for zoomies in the yard, long walks, and outdoor adventures with my people!I get along great with other dogs and can even do well with cats when introduced slowly and patiently. I truly just want to be loved and included in the family. 🐶🐱 I walk pretty well on a leash, though I am strong and can pull when I get excited, so I may not be the best match for someone with balance concerns. With patient and consistent training though, I continue to improve every day. And now for my most impressive talent… I can climb trees. 🌳😅 Yep. Somehow these little Basset legs still manage to surprise people! Because of that, outdoor time should always be supervised, in a covered pen, or with another secure safety plan in place. The only reason I ended up at the shelter is because my previous owner had surgery and could no longer care for me. I was deeply loved, and now I’m hoping to find another forever family to love just as much. 💖📞 Call 479-394-5682 to learn more about me. I’m ready to fill your home with cuddles, loyalty, laughter, and maybe just a tiny bit of mischief. 🐾****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
