Story
Looking for a silly, outgoing, spunky and fun-loving Basset Hound and Boston Terrier mix to brighten your days? Then Heron may just be your guy! Heron originally came to us from a shelter in San Bernardino County, and he quickly made fast friends with everyone both two and four legged. His favorite pastimes at TBL include roaming the play yard with his buddies, playing fetch, going on weekend hikes with volunteers, and just being a ham for attention. You only need to meet him to know that this playful dude has a happy-go-lucky outlook on life and nothing will bring him down. Given his energy and tenacity, he would do best with an experienced owner that can keep him grounded and help set boundaries. Heron loves to give you kisses – whether your hands, arms, or face, he is not picky! He comes equipped with adorably squat legs, classic black and white coloring, constantly wagging tail, big inquisitive brown eyes, and happy smiling face. To those who know him well, and those he has established trust with, he is a very sweet, jolly, and obedient boy. Heron weighs around 30 pounds, a great size for most types of living situations. He is about 9 and a half years young (estimated DOB December 2011) but can still keep up with the best of them on long hikes and outdoor adventures. If Heron sounds like the perfect pup you have been looking for, come see if he is a match for you!If you'd like to meet Heron, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Story
Our Roger, is just a love bug:) he is a calm puppy, and loves to laid down on his bed and just give you a look with so much love of gratitude for giving him a safe and loving place to be fostered. :) he will be great with any family that will give him the time to get him out to be a busy body:) such as running, hiking, and he can even be with a laid back family as well. He has these gorgeous hazel eyes kind of green:) and we love his long ears:) A little more of his background: There were 7 total, 1 male has been adopted (Oreo) but we still have 6 boys and 1 girl left. They all have wonderful markings, of mixed breeds such as : Beagle, Bassett Hound, Labrador Retriever, Cattle- as dogs can have 7 different fathers. There are almost 4 1/2 months old now. Mama Mika is for adoption as well - however, she is a special needs dog. She was so abused that they damaged her eye and she lost it. Therefore, we had to perform surgery on her eye and removed to prevent future infections. She is very shy and so afraid of people. It will take that special angel who will have the patience with her to make her blossom again. She is coming along every day, and getting better but very slowly. She used to run from us - we left the food for her to eat and walk away. When we rescued her, she used to stuffed her mouth with food and run to the her puppies to throw up so they can eat. This is the situation when we found them up on a land-field hill sleeping inside tubes; they were about 2 months old and not getting enough food from mama so she will do this and throw up so they will eat. They had never seen people before, the poor little things were so scared. Now they are gorgeous beautiful healthy puppies waiting for their forever home. Mika is a wonderful mama who cared for the 7 of them - she is the example as how animals are just so wonderful in all ways -:) They have received all their 3 main core puppy vaccinations, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. Please open your home and hearts to these bundle of cuties:) Are you ready to give them a forever home? If so, Please text us at 619-576-0747 as 1st type of contact or email veronica.aaofusa@gmail.com or visit our website at www.aaofus.org and complete our application at the following link: http://aaofus.org/adoption-application.html . If approved, the adoption coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a Meet-and-Greet appointment. No appointments will be made unless we have received an application; therefore, we can match you with the best fit for you. Follow us on Instagram @aaofus where you can see more pics. Please allow 48 hours to process applications and respond back to set up appointments. Unfortunately, responses back to those who do not qualify are not possible due to high volume of applications. Donation Adoption fee includes up-to-date their 3 core puppy DHLPP vaccinations, spaying or neutering, deworming, flea medication, and a complementary health check up by a participating clinic near you. Please consider adopting one (or more!) of these fur babies! Due to high volume of calls; NO PHONE calls are accepted at this time - therefore, please text us or email us.- A minute of conscious - Please read:) We ask you Please to be SERIOUS adopters; as there have been so many people that are not ready. We set up meet & greet appointments, do a home visit or send them the address for some meet & greet locations, paperwork and suddenly they said they are not ready or spouse is not ready, etc. These fur kids have a very hard day the day of their appointment. Due to travelling we hold their food, so they won't get car sick. We bath them, some of them are schedule for grooming as you know it is stressful for them; then they have to travel with us picking up other rescued fur kids, and so on, it is a very stressful hard day for them for people to just cancel at last minute or not show up or do show up and just say they are not ready. Our time as well as your time is valuable. Please don't waste valuable time that is so precious for a rescued pet. Every single wasted time is a time that an animal will die because we didn't get to them on time to help them. In addition, of wasting gas and grooming fees which are paid by volunteers. Please take the time to put your shoes in the shoes of the volunteer and most of it to put your shoes on our rescued fur kids!! Please take a minute to tell yourself if you are ready to adopt and for this commitment. LIVE!! LOVE!! LAUGH!! Story
This puppy was born from a litter of 5 (posted separately here in the website). We rescued the mother as a stray, she’s a tricolor Basset Hound mix (pic of mother and siblings attached), the father of the litter is unknown. Our best guess is that this puppies will be medium size once fully grown (25-40lbs). Four of the five puppies (all the males) were born with short tails, like the mother. DOB is March 8, 2024. Ready to be adopted now. Included with each of the puppies adoption: - Vet wellness exam - First set of vaccines at 8 weeks old (DHPP) - Deworming up to date (at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks old) - Fecal test (treatment if positive) - Flea/tick/heartworm/worms preventive given at 8 weeks old (Simparica Trio) - Microchip with lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite) - Puppy collar - Adoption contract - Copy of the mother’s DNA test. She came back as 40% Basset Hound, 25% Cocker Spaniel and the rest were small portions of other breeds - Puppy blanket with mother’s scent - Some of their current puppy food (Kirkland) As a side note, we spay/neuter our dogs no sooner than 6 months old, for their safety and health reasons. We’ll send the pups with a spay/neuter agreement so their new families have this done once they’re old enough. If interested in adopting this puppy feel free to fill out an application through our application link. Please note, we are a rescue that mainly rescues Beagles, therefore our application is directed to the Beagle breed. If you’re applying to adopt a Basset Hound or a mixed breed dog please complete the application sharing the experience you may have with such breed(s) or with other dog breeds (not necessarily Beagles). Thank you!

Story
Sara was found as a stray. We estimate that she’s around 2-3 years old. She has a long body like a Basset but shorter ears. She was also born with a very short tail. She’s a Tricolor Basset Hound mix. She was very pregnant when she was found, we did an ultrasound and X-rays. She had her litter of 5 puppies 10 days after we took her in. She was timid and looked sad at first but now she’s a very sweet girl who loves to be around her people, so once she gets to know you, she warms to you. She had ticks and worms when she arrived but now she’s clean and look overall healthy. She’ll be looking for her forever home as well as her pups once they’re old enough. Sara will be ready to be adopted by the first week of May after she’s spayed. Sara gets along with other dogs but she’s very protective of her food, with her background of being a stray dog that explains it. We’d love to place her in a single dog home, preferably, but we’re not opposed to place her in a home with another dog in the household if is a family that would be willing to work with her or just feed the dogs separately. She does prefer human companion over dog companion. Aside from that, she’s a good girl who loves to be loved on and receive attention. She’s not fully house trained but we’ve been working with crate training and she’s been doing great so far. She’s not a high energy dog, she’s on the mellow side. Included with adoption: - Vet wellness exam - Vaccinations up to date (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies) - Rabies certificate - Deworming up to date - Fecal test (Pending results) - FLEX4 test (Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma and Lyme) - (Pending results) - Flea/tick preventive given (Bravecto). We’ll probably use Heartgard for heartworm prevention once she’s no longer lactating - Microchip with lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite) - DNA test report (Embark). She came back as 40% Basset Hound, 25% Cocker Spaniel and the rest were small portions of other breeds - Spay surgery - Dental cleaning - Leash and collar - Adoption contract - Some of her current food Pick up is in San Diego, CA. Transportation could be arranged to the right home, depending on distance. If interested in adopting Sara feel free to fill out an application through our application link. Thank you!

Story
Adelaide is one of the cutest little puppies I’ve ever seen in my life, and having done rescue for over 30 years, I’ve seen a lot of cute puppies! Addie looks like a blend of a small Bassett Hound and maybe a Dachshund blend. She has the funniest short little legs and the most adorably cute little wiener dog body. Addie is a feisty little thing who won’t let any other of my foster dogs take advantage of her. This little cutie pie gets along great with a 70-pound shepherd blend I’m fostering, and she’s adorably funny with my kitties. Little Addie is housebroken and crate trained; she’s not a barker; she doesn’t dig in the yard; and she doesn’t wander out of my unfenced front yard. Of course, her adoption donation covers her spay, all her “baby” shots (a series of 3 DA2PPv’s), her Bordatella inoculation, and her rabies shot. She’s wonderfully healthy! I am a firm believer in allowing people to take a new buddy home for a “sleepover" to be sure your family, your other pets, and whomever you adopt all get along. Of course, we ALWAYS take our rascals back if things don’t work out. There’s no way you won’t fall in love with little Adelaide, and she’ll be your very best friend for many years to come! For adoption info and more pictures, pls email findabestbuddy@gmail.com or call 858-602-2061.
