Story
Hi! My name is Bob!
A few months ago I was found as a stray in Pinellas County, sadly no one came to find me and I had to spend my time at the shelter. The volunteers there truly loved me and I loved them. They ensured that I got out often and let me carry and bury my toys wherever I wanted! I'm pretty sure they would dig them up and give them back to me, but that's ok, I would just find new places to hide them.
I was a part of a special program called the Project Pup Program because I was a little upset when the shelter veterinary staff tried to give me my vaccines and when strangers approached my kennel, but they all fell in love with me later once they realized I was just scared of all that was happening to me in this new environment. The Project Pup team ensured that I received daily enrichment, lots of time out and met a lot of new people. I graduated from the program, my trainer took me home to foster for a bit, and then she was able to get me to First Ladies Farm for a chance at finding my family!
By the way, my trainer from the program will be with me for the rest of my life if you want her (at no charge to you!) and I would love to see her again. Plus she will help me transition to your home and go over any concerns you may have.
Things you should know about me: (besides the fact that I’m so adorable!) I am a low rider! I am a good eater and am very treat-motivated and am working on the following skills: Sit, Stay, Off (for jumping), leash handling and reigning in my lizard/squirrel hunting. I don't really respond to my name so feel free to find another one for me - my trainer has called me 'little guy' for awhile and I'm kind of fond of that as a nickname.
While many dogs are scared of things like thunder and fireworks, I don't really have any reaction to those - in fact, I can sleep right through them! I REALLY love my toys! Some of my stuffies I get a little protective over at first. I just want to make sure that you aren't going to take it away from me. I've had so many things taken from me over the past few months, that I want to hold on to the things I like the most. It doesn't last long though, and I'll drop the toy when I'm ready to share and play with you.
I really like most other dogs, but I would prefer to schedule buddy walks or play dates VS having another one in my home. I don't really like to share my things with other dogs and would prefer to have my home, bowls, toys, etc. to just be mine. I LOVE going for car rides and outings! And I love meeting new people. I can be a little head shy at times with new people, so please ask strangers to pet me on the side vs coming over my head at first. But, if there is a place you want to go and take me with you, I'm down for it! Just give me a couple of weeks at home first to get used to you, my new home and new routine first. Then I will love to join you to go anywhere! Please harness me when you take me out. I am working on my leash walking, but I can get a little strong when I see a squirrel. My harness keeps me safe and balanced and it makes me feel good to walk with it on.
Speaking of going out, I am very house trained! I hardly ever had an accident in my kennel at the shelter and didn't have any at my foster home either. By the way, I hope you like to snuggle! My favorite thing to do is to take naps cuddled up with my favorite person. I have this whole Netflix & chill thing down!
