She is a nearly 1-year-old, 35-lb Basset Hound with a sweet, gentle temperament. Naturally timid and cautious, she warms up into an affectionate, loyal companion once she feels safe. She enjoys being near her people but is also content lounging independently. Her energy level is moderate; she gets happy zoomies when you come home and enjoys short play sessions, but is otherwise calm and relaxed. She is extremely quiet and rarely barks. When excited, she shows affection enthusiastically and may jump up for attention. She is not destructive, though she has chewed a few cords, so basic puppy-proofing is recommended. She will investigate unattended food and sheds heavily at times. House-training has been a challenge, but she does well in a crate and would benefit from a consistent routine and a fresh start. She is playful yet mostly indifferent with other dogs, has done well with kittens, and has not been around children. She would thrive in a calm, patient home.

Meet Hannah – The Gentle Matriarch Hannah is a beautiful 7-year-old Hound mix with a heart as big as her floppy ears! She’s a calm, well-behaved girl who just wants to be near her people and enjoy the simple comforts of life. Hannah’s look is as unique as her personality — she has a little extra skin and a slightly crooked snout, likely from birth, that only adds to her one-of-a-kind charm. This amazing girl was rescued from a hoarding situation involving 17 dogs and puppies. Many have since found their forever homes, but a few, including some believed to be Hannah’s daughters, are still waiting for their happily-ever-after. We think Hannah was the matriarch of the group, and her nurturing nature truly shines through. Since joining the rescue, Hannah has completed her heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative! She’s also learning new skills every day — including leash walking, crate training, and she’s completely housebroken! Hannah has been spayed, fully vaccinated, and dewormed, and she’s ready to find a loving home to call her own.
