Story
Meet this oversized puppy in a grown-dog body who somehow missed the memo that adulthood is supposed to be calm.   This sweet, goofy boy is full of playfulness, personality, and “best friend” energy. He absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine buddy who can match his enthusiasm for zoomies, wrestling matches, and general joyful chaos. He’s also good with tolerant cats. He doesn’t have a prey drive, but he will try to recruit them into his social club whether they asked to join or not.   He’s still learning that not everyone appreciates his giant puppy enthusiasm. Because he can get mouthy during play and may accidentally knock little ones over, we think he’d do best in a home without small children unless closely supervised.   The good news? This boy is smart and eager to learn. He lets his people know when he needs to go outside, hasn’t had accidents, and is doing really well on leash walks. He’s making progress every single day with handling, collars, and getting used to wearing a halter. His crate training is improving too. The nighttime howling concerts have officially been retired, though he may still offer a little whining commentary before bed.   What he really needs is someone willing to continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s already becoming. A confident, patient leader who will keep working on manners, structure, and consistency will help this lovable goofball truly shine.   If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion with a huge heart, playful spirit, and lots of potential, this boy may be your perfect match. Currently being fostered in Oceanside, CA. Coney is a VERY funny puppy from our hot dog litter! This little guy was found abandoned in a playpen outside as a baby, but has grown in to the kind of dog every family dreams of. Coney loves to be involved, loves belly rubs, still has the absolute cutest habit of smacking things (or nothing) with his front paws. What we've learned since having him in foster is that he has one of the biggest personalities of any puppy ever to live. He's very silly, playful, and fun while still being eager to learn and genuinely wanting to please. He knows how to make his own fun- even when there's not much going on. That being said, he's also very snuggly, loves long naps, and sleeps like a baby overnight in his crate. Coney is an absolute joy to be around. He has a great sense of humor and impeccable comedic timing. He would benefit from a family who will allow him to shine without dimming his light. Coney has officially stolen the heart of everyone he's met, learned that people are pretty great, discovered how fun being loved can be, and he's looking forward to a future full of so many good things he forgets that he ever had it any other way ❤️ P. S. We did a DNA test on Coney's litter! He's 55% Basset, and the rest is a mix of German Shepherd, Boxer, and Husky!
