Story
APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. CAROB is a wonderful dog…Basset mix. DOB 2/14/25, current weight 28#s. She came to us in November along with her sister (Cameo currently in WA with a foster) and her mother (Cleo, already adopted). Carob’s processing was delayed because she was pregnant. We let her have her pups and she did a great job of caring for them and they will soon be advertised. BUT… Carob is ready to go now. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is a very loving and affectionate dog. She loves to go outside to run and play with the other dogs. She plays with many of my dogs like she’s just a pup. She leaves my 3 cats alone…for the most part. I do have one cat that literally likes to wrestle with her and she loves it. For the most part, she is house trained but needs to learn how to tell you she needs to go out. We do have our dogs on a regimen which allows her to do her business outside regularly. Even though her official name is Carob (based on the name for chocolate) she was called “Mama” most of the time…and this name she knows. She does like to be outside for hours (of course it’s warmer down here in Texas) but she’ll come in when called. She walks on the leash with enthusiasm and rides in the car with no problems. She loves to go everywhere and everyone is a friend. She is crate trained…but can do her Basset Hound howl when she needs to go out. We do not recommend adopting her to anyone living in an apartment. CAROB is a fantastic, loving dog. She’ll make someone a great companion and will be good with children. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You will receive the dog's folder with all the printouts proving the medical treatments received. You can ask us about how pre-adoption works and our "trial period." Adoption Fee: Includes all of the vetting and transportation to WA/OR. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. If you are not in the position to afford a puppy/dog but still want to be an important factor in dog rescue, we recommend fostering. Fostering ensures you incur no vet bills and no boarding fees while saving a life and enjoying the love of a canine companion. We are always in need of good fosters. APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. In foster in Kent WA 2 YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UISJNee1w3Q https://youtube.com/shorts/QdU4nVGyIKI?feature=share CAMEO is a Basset Hound mix weighing about 30-35 pounds. She is now 1 yr old (est. DOB 2/15/25) and is as sweet as can be. She knows her name and has good recall... except if she on that "hound dog" sniffing trail. She is very outgoing, affectionate, and is so sweet-tempered. Cameo is definitely coming out of her shell at her foster's home and exhibiting those well-known basset hound traits! “Basset Hounds are known for their friendly, affectionate nature and gentle temperament, making them excellent family pets. They are also characterized by their distinctive appearance, including droopy ears and a low stature, and they possess a strong sense of smell, second only to Bloodhounds.” She spends most of the morning wrestling and playing with her foster brother, so she would do very well in a home with another dog, but could also be a solo dog with the right enrichment! The advantage to Bassets is that they are LOW RIDERS which makes it more difficult for them to counter surf or climb fences. Cameo gets along great with other animals. Children are her favorite especially if they have treats. She would do GREAT with an active family. She does great on a leash and her hound instincts kick in when she sees birds. At night, she loves to settle down in your lap with kisses and frequently is a couch potato. She is almost totally potty trained. You just need to give her a chance to go outside every 3-4 hrs but she’s good through the night. Cameo, along with her sister (Carob) and mother (Cleo), were found in a parking area close to a storage business along with several other dogs. Luckily they were found in time before they learned bad street habits. You could tell they had belonged to someone and were very friendly. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog.
