Woody & Jessie 🖤🤎About 10 days ago, these two young shepherd/hound mixes wandered into our shelter together. We believe they’re siblings, likely around 1–2 years old, and despite our hopes, no one has come looking for them.The bond between these two is something special.Wherever Jessie goes, Woody follows. Wherever Woody goes, Jessie is right behind. They find comfort in each other, they play together, they nap together… they even choose to share a kennel.Today was their first chance to really stretch their legs in our play yard, and they were pure joy to watch. They romped, wrestled, chased each other, and played until they simply couldn’t play anymore. For a little while, they got to forget they were in a shelter and just be happy.They’re incredibly sweet, well-mannered dogs. Both know how to sit when asked, love attention, and have gentle, affectionate personalities. They’re the kind of dogs who make you smile without even trying.We know bonded pairs can be a little harder to place, but our hearts would love nothing more than to see Woody and Jessie spend the rest of their lives together. After everything they’ve been through, they deserve to keep the one constant they’ve always had—each other.If you have room in your heart and home for two amazing companions, please come meet Woody and Jessie. She loves being close to her people, enjoys cuddling, and settles down nicely in the evenings. Through her training, she has learned a great deal and is kennel trained (and is so quiet in her kennel, you may forget she's in there!), she is fully house trained, and is familiar with commands such as sit, heel, climb, bed (kennel), and does well with loose-leash walking, and several other obedience skills. One thing the trainer has consistently emphasized is just how intelligent and capable Sweetie is. In fact, he recently described her as "a dog trainer's dream" and said Sweetie could be great at doing a job, or sport, like agility or dock jumping. She has energy and a vertical leap you wouldn't believe. She genuinely enjoys learning, responds best to structure, and seems happiest when she is being challenged and given opportunities to work, train, and engage with her handler. We believe she would thrive with an adopter who enjoys training dogs and would continue building on the strong foundation she already has. She's happy and... well... sweet.
