Charlotte has been adopted. Charlotte is not your every day run of the mill beagle. She is what you call a Blue Tick Beagle. She is not hyper but she is not lazy either. She is a funny little girl as she will keep you laughing with her quirky little antics. She is just delightful to be around. She is potty trained to outside and also puppy pads. She is leashed and crate trained. She is however selective about other dogs she can get along with so we recommend her being in an only dog home. She is great with kids and people. Please give us a call to meet her so you can see what a special girl she is. Charlotte will be forever grateful for your interest.

He doesn't have too many requirements, just people to love him and a soft bed to nap on. Oh, and maybe a yard to run around in too! Hank is a friendly guy but he doesn't enjoy restraint (like being hugged,) so a home with children who are old enough to understand his boundaries would be ideal. We're happy to do a meet-and-greet if you have another dog at home, just to make sure everyone can get along! Where to start?! She was the best childhood dog I asked for. She filled each and every day with love and excitement. I only wish that college wouldn't separate us. She is so loving and loves to show it. She does zoomies whenever she sees you and love to wrestle and groom you when you're around. She the smartest dog I've ever trained by far. She can do up to 50 tricks and is always eager to learn more. This girl is probably one of the most stunning mutts I've ever seen also! She is so cute and makes sure to show off her huge smile often. She needs a home where she can run, play, and learn new tricks. Ellie is also great at chilling out. She can play and entertain herself and does so well just snuggling on rainy days. She loves adventure, hiking, running, wrestling, (not so much swimming haha). She'd be great with older kids or families without children (she has anxiety relating to kids). All in all she is a one of a kind dog and it breaks my heart to let her go.

SPECIAL NEEDSMeet Stewart! UPDATE: June 2, 2021- In December of 2020, Stewart suffered a ruptured disc and has spinal surgery. It left him unable to walk, but now that he is healed, he is doing therapy and regaining strength and starting to walk. Right now, Stewart is special needs and has wheels to help him. He will need a special home that can handle special needs and continue therapy so he can fully walk again.  Stewart is an 8 year old Beagle. Stewart came to us emaciated, but he is now healthy and ready to be adopted! Stewart needs a home that will be patient and work with him on house training and socializing. Stewart is good with dogs his size and prefers female companions over males. He also needs a fenced yard where he cannot escape, and his “beagle nose” get him into trouble. He would not do well in a subdivision, apartment, or townhome. He is very vocal so a place with a little more land would be more suitable. If you would like to make Stewart a part of the family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  STEWART'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
