Story
I bought my dog off of a website, he was just a puppy back then he was about 4 months old. Mason is extremely friendly and playful he likes to be close to his mom/Dad but he also likes his space too. Mason is 8 years and 6 months old now and I swear he still thinks he's a puppy lol. Mason is mat or cage trained as far as the bathroom. Mason would need a owner who can spend time with him or who is home a lot because he doesn't like to be alone. Mason also needs someone who can afford him he has anal gland issues so he goes to the vet every month to get them drained or whatever they do and this cost around $90 a visit. I'm rehoming my dog because I can't afford him any longer. He will come with everything u would need to care for him. Food, toys, poppy mats that are washable, food, a kennel and water and food dishes we also have pet stairs for him because my bed is super high off the floor. I'm getting desperate no animal shelters have space for him. I don't know what else to do.

Story
Meet Howie! Howie is one of our sweet Backstreet Boys—a group of boys who were among the last dogs rescued after being abandoned at a dumpster. Their story is heartbreaking, but thankfully, that’s no longer the life they have to know. Today, Howie is safe, loved, and patiently waiting for the family he’s always deserved. At just 18 months old and approximately 30–35 pounds, Howie is a handsome hound mix with soulful, sad eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. He still has just a little weight to gain, but he’s blossoming more every day. Because of his past, Howie can be a little shy when he first meets new people. Fast movements or loud noises may cause him to cower at first, but don’t let that fool you—that isn’t who he truly is. Once he realizes he’s safe, his whole world changes. His tail starts wagging, his playful personality shines, and he becomes one of the happiest, sweetest companions you could ask for. Howie is wonderful with other dogs and has done great around my children of 8 years old that are respectful. He’s a calm, well-mannered boy who seems genuinely grateful for every kind word, every soft bed, and every meal. There is something incredibly special about his gentle spirit. He’s also doing fantastic with crate training (keeping his crate clean) and is walking nicely on a leash. He’s heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and current on all preventatives, making him more than ready to begin his next chapter. If you’ve been searching for a loyal best friend who simply wants to love and be loved, Howie may be your perfect match. All he needs is a family willing to give him a little patience at first—and in return, he’ll give you a lifetime of devotion. Come meet Howie. We have a feeling those big, beautiful hound eyes will steal your heart.  Please fill out an adoption application to join your family.  He is currently still in La.  His $400 adoption fee covers medical up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2767399##

Story
We have had Arthur since he was a puppy. He is 10 but full of energy and a very active dog. He need someone who can walk him daily and give him lots of outside time. He loves being in the sun and would sit and soak up the sun for hours. He is a very alert dog and will let you know when someone is at the door or another dog is walking by. He is used to being in his crate throughout the day and sometimes likes to just lay in there to relax. He is good with other dogs when introduced slowly, we have not had him around kids or cats so not sure how he would do around them. This is a very difficult position we are in and are heart broken we need to re home him and are hoping for someone who can love him as much as we have.

Story
Meet Beau!Beau is a six year old loving, cuddly companion with a playful personality and an adventurous spirit. He enjoys exploring, playing, and spending time with his people, but he's just as happy curling up on the couch or in his own bed at the end of the day. Beau is fully potty trained and has excellent nighttime habits—he sleeps quietly in his bed and does not require a crate.Beau could do okay with children. He has a talent for spotting snacks from across the room! Because he loves food, he may help himself to treats from little hands if given the opportunity and is usually a little too rough. Beau thrives with clear boundaries and a confident owner who can continue reinforcing good manners. While he is house trained, he can be a bit enthusiastic and still needs reminders about household etiquette. He is also sensitive about being physically restrained and may react by nipping if someone grabs his collar unexpectedly. Beau has so much to offer to the right family!

Story
Introducing Wren — A Hound with Heart! Before arriving at the shelter, Wren’s life was a sad one. He spent his days tied up outside, without the comfort and care every dog deserves. Now he’s discovering what a humane life indoors feels like, and he’s slowly learning that the world can be a much kinder place.Wren is a medium-sized, very sweet boy who absolutely loves his walks. Like the true hound he is, he enjoys following interesting scents along the trail and keeping a watchful eye out for squirrels and rabbits. When something exciting catches his attention, you might hear the classic houndy howl that hound lovers know and adore. This affectionate boy loves to be loved and is highly motivated by treats. In fact, Wren is clever enough to quickly figure out which pocket holds the goodies, and he’ll happily give it a curious nudge with his nose.Because of his hound instincts and personality, Wren would do best with experienced hound owners who understand and appreciate the breed. A cat-free home will be important for him as well.Wren has come a long way from the lonely life he once knew. Now he’s ready for a home where he can finally be what he was always meant to be: a beloved companion. You can begin the adoption process for Wren right now by filling out an application on our website, www.humanecny.org; or email info@humanecny.org; or call us at (315) 457-8762.Contact HumaneCNY if interested in this animal. Story
Daisy was brought in when her owner passed. She has the Bassett Hound height so, although she weighs 58lbs, she is quite short in stature. Immaculately clean in her kennel, we assume she is housebroken. She is a slow meanderer on walks and loves to be brushed. She does have some hearing loss. Daisy has one fault, her nemesis, the cat. A NO CAT home is a must.

Story
Have you seen our Betty??  She is just the best!   Betty is a female Basset Hound mix that is estimated to be around 8-10 years old.  She was found roaming the streets alone by some good samaritans who took her into their home and even took the time to try and find her owners but they weren't succesful.  They even went a step further and volunteered to foster Betty until we could find her a forever home.  Unfortunately, finding loving adopters for a senior dog is sometimes very difficult.  We will not give up hope that there is someone out there or a special family that has a heart big enough to give her the love, attention and nurturing that she so very much deserves.  Let me tell you a little bit about Betty.  She currently weighs about 45 pounds, but the veterinarian feels she should be closer to 50 lbs.  Betty is crate trained and potty trained!  Unfortunately, she does not do well with cats.  We feel that Betty would do best in a home with no other pets.  Betty has proved to do well with kids ages 6 and up but she has not been tested around children younger than 6.  Betty enjoys going for walks, riding in the car and hanging out with her amazing foster parents.   She has shown some difficulty going up and down stairs so it is slow going sometimes but she eventually gets there!  She is very food and treat motivated and her fosters have been using a "slow" feeding dish to slow down her eating.  She is up to date with her vaccinations and is spayed.  If you are looking for a loving companion, please consider Betty. We know you won't be disappointed.  Betty's adoption fee has been sponsored by a friend of the rescue! ##2469775##
