Story
Lovey is the kind of puppy who reminds you what love is really about. Rescued just in time from a neglectful home where she wasn’t wanted, this beautiful Beagle mix girl arrived with sad eyes and a quiet plea for something better. Before we ever met her, we named her Lovey in honor of the Valentine season — and once she was safe, it became clear that her name couldn’t be more perfect. At just 9 weeks old and 7.5 pounds, Lovey is blossoming into the happiest, most affectionate little puppy. She adores people, loves to play, and fills her foster home with joy through all the classic puppy antics that make you laugh and fall in love daily. Her past is already fading as she embraces her new life with an open heart and a wagging tail. Lovey is bright, food-motivated, and eager to learn, which has made training a wonderful experience. She is crate trained, learning leash skills, and doing great with potty training both outdoors and on pee pads. She approaches every new lesson with enthusiasm, clearly wanting to please and connect with her people. Lovey is expected to grow into a 30–35 pound adult with a rich golden short coat and the sweetest, most expressive face. She will be a devoted companion whose heart belongs fully to her family — the kind of dog who wants to be close, loved, and included in everyday life. This Valentine season, Lovey is wishing for something simple and lasting: a family to love her forever. If you’re ready to open your heart to a puppy who will give hers back a thousand times over, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 8, 2026, 12:20 am

Story
Come meet me and 75+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's Super Adoption Event, Furever Yours! Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at Paradise Island in Staten Island from 11am - 3pm! Meet Princess! Princess is a 1-year-old, 30-lb female beagle mix that can be a bit skittish when approached by new people but she just needs a little time and a gentle touch to trust. Once she’s comfortable, she loves belly rubs and cuddling with you. Princess is very calm and gentle around other pets. She’s a very fast learner and she loves her squeaky toys! She also loves to run around in the yard, especially in the snow (and she looks like a funny skater on the ice). She is learning how to use pee-pads and is very good on the leash. When she goes for walks, she is a little scared of her surroundings, but is learning to build confidence which makes for an enjoyable walk for all. With love and encouragement, she will be a good addition to a family with or without a pets and kids. This gentle soul is being fostered in Staten Island, NY and her adoption fee is $475. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Hazel - 5 years, 24lbs, Beagle Mix, Spayed  Our Team Says: "Hazel is a gem of a dog. She would do best in a home in the calmer parts of the city or beyond aka the burbs." Their Foster Parent Says: "Hazel is the perfect blend of sweet, adorable, and cuddly – with a little sass and rambunctiousness thrown in! She's that irresistible blend of puppy-level curiosity and five year old super-chill. Hazel was a little under-the-weather when she first arrived off the transport but was such a trooper during the vet visits (thank you to the SocialTees veterinarian teams for the amazing care!). And now she's fully recovered, we're getting a chance to see her true personality. Some things we've learned about Hazel in her few weeks with us...1. Is not a morning dog – her perfect morning is to be let out of her crate at 8am, come onto our bed (with permission), and sleep in with dad until breakfast is ready for her2. Snores – little puppy snores, next level adorable3. Loves food – eating it, watching it being prepared in the kitchen, and has figured out training = treats (training is very new to her)4. Gets zoomies after potty – we're still working on potty training and she's getting better as the days go by – but what better way to celebrate every win than with zoomies!!5. Is secretly a cat – she loves to jump, tug, chase, and pounce on her rope toys. Hazel is happy to play with you and by herself – toys are new and endless fun for herHazel would be happiest in a calmer part of the city where she can get to learn familiar sights and smells. Hazel may take a little time to adjust to new surroundings – but will be the snuggliest, lovable, gorgeous dog in return. TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). Would prefer a home in a calmer part of the city or the suburbs. Hazel is pretty happy being outside – she shows good confidence for being in a new environment. Hazel will let you know if she's 1. not interested in going out (aka too cold), 2. been out long enough, or 3. has a smell she just HAS to follow POTTY TRAININGSort of — On the way and learning! May be using wee pads (is a puppy or a brand new rescue)Hazel's only issue right now is pottying outside reliably (poop and pee). She gets anxious when having to find a place to potty and it can take up to 60min for her to find the "perfect spot" outside — this includes her regular potty route and any repeat spots she may have gone to in the past. We had a few accidents inside in the first week. However since the freezing weather has made it difficult for her to potty outside – we've setup an indoor "fake grass" potty area in the bathroom and she's happy to poop and pee there. We plan to wean her off this as soon as the weather warms up.COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSIn between bean – Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park When she's interested, she's happy to go to strangers and get pats. When she's not interested, she's fine to just walk by.BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)Hazel is a gentle dog. She would be okay in a home with respectful kids. SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGSGood with other dogs  – Okay to be in a home with another dog Hazel is definitely wary of larger dogs, she will either freeze or back away. But she's becoming more confident and interested in meeting other dogs her size or smaller.RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.)Due to her size and breed we think she would be okay in a home with a cat. We can cat test for approved adopters. MOUTHY BEHAVIORPretty Minimal – Is respectful of hands, feet, etc. but likes to chew on things they’re not supposed to like shoes, furniture, etc.Hazel has only shown interest in chewing on two things: 1. the indoor long lead (made of fabric, she's chewed through it twice), and 2. wooden stepstool (ikea, unvarished, raw pine) which interestingly our previous foster Speedy also liked to chew.SEPARATION ANXIETY (Please leave your foster dog home alone every day for at least 20 minutes.)Fine home alone– Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise. We use a crate for separation anxiety and whilst she will whine a little initially, she settles quickly and once we return can remain in the crate calmly until we're ready to let her out.LEASH MANNERSGetting the hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in their life but figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction. Hazel can sometimes be stubborn about going down a certain street/direction — but if you wait a moment, then call her to you, she will start moving again. Pretty common for any type of hound mixes. CUDDLE BUG LEVELHigh – Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the timeHazel does like a little alone time, but generally will very willingly cuddle with you. She loves sleeping on or beside you because you're the best heater in the house!JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLOCalm Greetings – Doesn’t jump up on people or dogs. Always all four on the floor.Hazel will only jump up to put her front paws on you if you invite her to do so (we use the command "up"). CRATE TRAININGYep/mostly – Seems comfortable in the crate, may whine a little at first but settles pretty quickly. We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and/or at night. Hazel is happy to use her crate for resting (door open and closed), for separation anxiety training (door closed), and for sleeping at night (door closed). Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Hazel came down with a fever shortly after her arival but is tottaly health now, it happens dogs get sick just like humans :) Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intakeHow did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2649826##
