Story
Jolene was born around June 24, 2022 and weighs about 20-25 pounds.  Jolene came to us from Kentucky with the one hour at a time volunteer transport team and a very kind overnight foster person.  Everyone along the way adored her as we do now! Jolene did have a home in Kentucky with the town drunk and he tossed her out the front door and said he "wanted her gone".  A kind neighbor called her over and kept her until she could get her into the hands of another kind person and then she, tearfully, loaded her in the first transport car to come here to us.  She is very sweet and affectionate and really loves to be carried (good thing she's little) and snuggled with and have her belly rubbed.  Jolene rides well in the car and LOVES to wrestle, play, run, with other dogs and she does need another fun playmate in her next life and a large enough safe area in which they can release the energy she has.   She is also a very good swimmer.  This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link "Special Instructions to Seller" if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Bernie was born around October 15, 2020 and weighs about 30 pounds.  We were told Bernie was one of a few cherished Beagles owned by an elderly man who had a stroke and will not be coming home from the care center.  The man's adult children didn't really care for the Beagles and decided to no longer care for them.  Another rescue took one of the little girl Beagles and she was skin on bone and actually pooping out pebbles - I guess when there is no food you eat whatever fills you up.  We heard that there was another couple of them that needed rescue and we took in this delightful little boy and, thankfully, his condition was not as severe.  Bernie was a little underweight and eating really well.  We can't imagine what the living conditions were to have caused such an odor that we had to crack the windows on the near hour ride back to Joyful.  His two back dew claws were curled into his flesh and he had an impacted anal gland (perhaps some of the odor?) and truly didn't feel he deserved all the love and care he was receiving from us.   We don't feel he has been physically abused, but he surely felt unlovable.  Bernie walks wonderfully on leash!   Well, that was all to change!  Soon he began wagging his tail more and adjusting to his new life.  He ADORES the fenced yard and romping with all the other dogs here!  He does love all of us new humans and someone out there is going to be so very happy when they find this adorable little boy and welcome him into their home!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Dorothy was born around April 22, 2023 and weighs about 35 pounds.  Dorothy and 3 other dogs were found in a nearby town and when no one came looking for them the dog control officer reached out to us and we were happy to help.  The four dogs seem to be related and all have the same initial shyness.  It's rather obvious they didn't have a great start to life but that's all behind them now and they are eager to learn and love. They rode well in the car on the ride here and have been wonderful with the other dogs. They will need a bit of patience in the beginning while they learn how to be cherished family members.  Another confident dog in the home will help with this.  This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
