Story
Jolene was born around June 24, 2022 and weighs about 20-25 pounds.  Jolene came to us from Kentucky with the one hour at a time volunteer transport team and a very kind overnight foster person.  Everyone along the way adored her as we do now! Jolene did have a home in Kentucky with the town drunk and he tossed her out the front door and said he 'wanted her gone'.  A kind neighbor called her over and kept her until she could get her into the hands of another kind person and then she, tearfully, loaded her in the first transport car to come here to us.  She is very sweet and affectionate and really loves to be carried (good thing she's little) and snuggled with and have her belly rubbed.  Jolene rides well in the car and LOVES to wrestle, play, run, with other dogs and she does need another fun playmate in her next life and a large enough, physically fenced, safe area in which they can release the energy she has.   She is also a very good swimmer.  She is not a constant barker, but when she feels like it she sure can whoop it up and when she is on a trail of some fun odor she can be heard a ways away.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. Story
Lottie was born about January 21, 2024 and weighs about 26 pounds.  She is one ADORABLE, fun and funny little girl!  She came in through dog control and we don't have any prior information about her past, but we are sure excited for her future.  With so many changes it did take her a couple days of uncertainty to adjust for her true personality to shine through and once it did she became the life of the party!  She hasn't said much since arriving but has that typical happy-go-lucky personality of most Beagles and we assume she has normal breed wanderlust so will need to live in a safe environment and, truly, she needs another fun dog in her next life to pal around with.  While we are mentioning wanderlust this cutie dug out of our fence after a couple of weeks here and when tired and cold found the cat door into the garage sometime during the night and got some beauty sleep in an open crate - very cute and bad!  Lottie's fenced in yard needs to be Beagle proof.  This girl is going to make someone so very happy!!!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__500.00______. Story
Ace was born about May 28, 2016 and weighs about 43 lbs.  He is a really adorable and HAPPY tri-colored boy that was released to us after his human went into assisted memory care.  We were sent a photo of a small shack with a dirt floor and a hole for him to go outside into a small fenced area and then he got to get out to go rabbit huntin' now and then.  Well, no more and here he is in his foster home all clean, warm and cozy with a choice of blankies to cuddle in.  He adores us humans and strives to be near us.  His tail is constantly in motion whenever we look his way or talk to him.  Speaking of his tail, we were sad to discover that there is a plum sized mass under the base of his tail and at the top of his rectum.   The mass was biopsied and it is cancerous and in a location that we were advised would be extremely difficult to fix with a  potential the surgery would be fatal.  So, Ace is a hospice case and he is welcome to spend his life here with us, but maybe a special human will come along willing to adopt him.  At this time he has no idea he has any issues.  Ace is happy, appears healthy, and is loving life!   He quickly learned the dog door and he, and the friend he came here with, were absolutely delighted to have so much yard to meander and sniff!  Ace did well on his car ride here and he does fine on leash.  He is excellent with all the other dogs here small and large, he's never been around cats.  He is a love and we love him already and we know there are humans out there that can show Ace what his life should have always been like and give him all the love that he's missed out on all these years! Story
Lucy was born about May 20, 2013 and weighs about 22 pounds.  She is one sweet, loving, senior gal that we are so happy to be able to help her not be killed before her time.  We love Lucy and we do realize a forever home for her may or may not come along but no matter she will have a home here until it is her natural time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.  She came in through dog control and when we decided to take the adorable young Beagle named Lottie it was decided that we were not leaving Lucy behind!  With so many changes it did take her a couple days to feel at home and the first sign that she was beginning to realize she was safe and loved was when she jumped up to sit in her foster Dad's lap for the first time.  She hasn't said much since arriving, she enjoys co-mingling with the other dogs but would probably do fine as an only dog or fine with other dogs, maybe a rambunctious puppy would be a bit much.  We assume she has normal breed wanderlust so will need to live in a safe environment.   Now it's time to go over the documented notes from her veterinary visit:  temperature, heart and lungs were good, crinkled cartilage of pinna (ear flap), suspect previous hematoma likely due to persistent scratching because of untreated ear infections and definitive hearing loss is evident, she walks stiff legged with obvious signs of arthritis that would be helped by daily Rimadyl or other anti-inflammatory, there is normal old age cloudiness in her eyes, but sight is adequate for now, her teeth are just filthy and we will be doing a dental for her, but due to the condition another one will likely be needed in the not so distance future.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__150.00______. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
