Story
Carly is a 2-year-old Beagle mix with the softest heart and the gentlest soul. Affectionate, shy, and incredibly loving, Carly is happiest when she’s close to the people she trusts. Whether she’s snuggled tightly beside you on the couch, riding along on a quiet car trip, or enjoying one of her favorite walks, Carly’s love shines through in the sweetest ways. Her previous family shared that when they first brought Carly home, she was nervous and scared, but once she felt safe, she became deeply devoted and full of love. She’s comforted by attention and simply wants to be near her person. Carly is crate trained and finds peace and security in her black wire crate, especially during thunderstorms, often choosing to curl up there on her own for comfort. Carly also loves running around the yard and was a star at learning the invisible fence. Food, cozy naps, walks, and quiet time with her favorite person make her happiest. Because Carly is sensitive and protective of the people she loves, she would do best in a calm, quiet home without a lot of visitors or small children. Strangers can be overwhelming for her, and while she enjoys outings and adventures, she prefers not to be approached or petted by people she doesn’t know. Carly feels things deeply and can get her feelings hurt easily, so she needs a patient adopter who understands shy dogs and will give her the time and reassurance she deserves. Underneath her timid nature is a dog who loves with her whole heart. Carly isn’t looking for a perfect home — she’s looking for a safe one, where she can finally relax, feel understood, and spend her days close to the person she loves most.

Story
This 9-month-old Beagle mix is full of puppy charm and ready to find a home that won’t let him go. Gizmo came to us through no fault of his own—his previous landlord said he couldn’t stay—but we know his forever family is out there. Gizmo is everything you’d hope for in a young pup: playful, loving, and incredibly friendly. He’ll be right there to greet you at the door with happy tail wags and plenty of kisses after a long day. He adores people, does great with children, and has lived happily with another dog. He’s still learning his house manners and isn’t fully house trained yet, but he does try to let you know when he needs to go out by scratching at the door. With consistency and patience, he’ll catch on in no time. When it’s time to relax, Gizmo settles nicely—he’s calm on car rides and would be thrilled to curl up next to you at night (he loves sleeping with his person!). If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and playful companion who just wants to be by your side, Gizmo is your guy. Give this lovable pup the second chance he deserves—you’ll gain a loyal friend for life.

Story
Meet Mini, a 4-year-old mama dog whose greatest wish is finally having a family of her own. Mini was found behind an abandoned school in Puerto Rico with her puppies, doing everything she could to keep them safe. With little shelter and no one looking out for them, life was incredibly difficult. Despite the odds, Mini never gave up on her babies. Thankfully, rescue stepped in and gave this deserving family a second chance.

Since then, Mini has spent many months in a loving foster home, learning that she no longer has to worry about survival. Her puppies have grown, and now it is finally Mini's turn to be cared for.

She has blossomed into an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate dog who loves being close to her people. After years of putting everyone else first, Mini is discovering how wonderful it feels to receive love in return. She has adapted beautifully to life in a home and is working on being house trained. Mini is happiest when she is curled up nearby, soaking up attention and companionship. Mini has all the qualities that make a wonderful family dog. She is calm, loving, grateful, and eager to be part of a family. She carries herself with a quiet sweetness that makes everyone who meets her fall in love.

She is currently in Puerto Rico but is ready to travel to either a foster home or her forever home in the States, whichever opportunity comes first. Transportation is included in her adoption fee. Mini spent years being a devoted mother and protector. Now she deserves a chance to simply be someone's beloved dog. She has done the hard part. All she needs now is a family willing to give her the happy ending she has waited so patiently for.

Story
eet Dollie, a sweet senior beagle mix with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and a nose that never quits! At around 8 years old and 19 pounds, Dollie is embracing the good life after what appears to have been a difficult past. She is crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night in her crate, which she happily considers her own safe little haven.Dollie is still polishing her house-training skills in her foster home, so she'll do best with a patient family willing to continue helping her succeed. Her ideal home would include a securely fenced yard where she can spend time following every interesting scent and soaking up the simple joys of being a dog. She enjoys canine companionship and would love a dog sibling to share her days with, though she would likely do just fine as your one-and-only with plenty of love and attention. Dollie has so much affection left to give, and she's ready to spend her golden years showing her forever family just how special second chances can be.Dollie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention, and recently had a dental.  Her adoption fee is $200 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl.org. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. June 24, 2026, 1:54 am
