Story
Dusty came to CVHS with his canine family, when his owner was moving and unable to take him along.True to his hound genetics, he can be a vocal boy, and will let you know when he`s ready for a walk, mealtime, or anything he feels you need to know. He is crate trained, and getting the hang of walking well on a leash. He has strong feelings about cats, and cannot live with any felines in his next home. He has a nose that likes to work, and loves to chew on a good toy. He has shown at CVHS, and in his prior home, to be selective with his canine friends, so he may need a home without other dogs. He was previously exposed to older children and did just fine. While with us, Dusty injured his ACL, so he has been on reduced exercise for over a month, and he is healing really well! He needs to go to a home where he can get plenty of exercise, but be contained enough to continue to heal. LOTS of sniffy walks and scent work will keep this boy happy and healthy.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Dusty`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Dusty.

Kelly is 3 years old and 23 pounds. She is coming to us from a private home that could no longer keep her. She is shy and understandably confused by the changes but she is very sweet and opening up more each day. Kelly is good with other dogs and is ready to find a family that will treasure her forever. Could that be you? https://www.vermontenglishbulldogrescue.com/non-bulldog-application/

Story
Nymeria is a 5 year old Beagle/Border Collie mix. She’s around 38 lbs and has the sweetest disposition. She does very well with cats, children, and other dogs. She’s working hard to learn to be an indoor dog after a life of living mostly outdoors. She’s working hard at house training, crate training, and manners. She’s ready to find her forever couch to snuggle up on and a family with the time and patients to teach her how to be the best girl ever! Story
We introduced Destiny briefly a few weeks ago before her ophthalmology appointment. She has since had the appointment and we have answers that will help us to find the best home for her. Destiny has chronic retinal degeneration, the result of this is that she’s blind in one eye and nearly blind in the other (the remaining vision will be completely gone in 1-2 years). She is on an affordable medication to help slow the vision loss, but it’s not reversible or able to be completely stopped. She’ll need annual follow ups with the ophthalmologist to ensure no secondary conditions arise. But, let’s get into Destiny herself and not just the condition she has! Destiny is sweet and silly! This girl wants to snuggle right up for some love. She hops around in a hilarious manner when she’s excited. She is crate trained and about 90% house trained (the remaining 10% is human error with learning her schedule and cues). She does well with cats. She does well with dogs, but would do best with a dog that won’t act like a bull in a china shop around her. She has been around children and done well with them, but for her sake she deserves a home with children over the age of 10. Children younger than 10 are often louder and move faster which can make her a bit anxious when she doesn’t understand what’s going on around her. She’s a young girl, estimated around 2-4 years old per our vet and the ophthalmologist. She’s a great size at just under 30 lbs. I personally have one fully blind dog and a partially blind dog and can tell you that living with a blind dog isn’t as big of a deal as many think it is. A lot of it is just continued narration, talking to them as things happen. Training in a lot of key words and commands. Repetition, repetition, repetition! I’ll be extra picky about where this girl goes, she absolutely deserves the best of the best! Applications: https://airtable.com/appowPvyyGwcXQxBN/shr1OAOWYfymceEDR
