Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Atticus! Atticus is a 2-year-old, 51 LB Berger Picard/Briard mix — yes, you read that right, fifty-one pounds! Though he may look like a scruffy little terrier in photos, Atticus is actually a medium-sized herding dog with the brains, energy, and drive to match! True to his breed mix, Atticus is active, bouncy, and intelligent. He can be very sweet and affectionate, but he thrives when he has a job to do and clear direction from his handler. This boy will need an adopter with herding or working breed experience who understands his needs and can provide him with the structure, leadership, and mental and physical stimulation he requires. Without that, his herding instincts can come out in the form of nipping or redirecting frustration onto his handler. Atticus would do best in a more rural or suburban home, away from the noise and chaos of city life. A standalone home with a securely fenced yard is a must — no apartments or condos for this active boy. He has done well with some other dogs, but he will need slow introductions and an experienced handler to guide him. We recommend an adult-only home for him and no cats. With the right match, Atticus will be an amazing partner — energetic, fun, loyal, and incredibly rewarding to work with! Atticus is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED (currently in foster care) Meet Cassidy! Cassidy is a gorgeous 1-year-old, 32 lb Idaho Shag/Airedale mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter and is now thriving in foster care. She is an extremely intelligent, driven young dog who needs a very knowledgeable, experienced home. Cassidy is the kind of dog who wakes up ready to work. The first thing she wants to do every day is go outside—and once she does, she immediately finds herself a job. She is constantly observing, thinking, and engaging with her environment. This is a dog with a sharp mind, strong instincts, and a true working-dog mentality. She is not a beginner dog and requires a confident, proactive handler who understands herding and working breeds. Cassidy needs someone who can read canine body language, stay one step ahead, and provide consistent structure, training, and leadership. Cassidy does great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play! She would love another confident, active dog in the home who can match her energy and play style. That said, she is a sturdy, rough-and-tumble player, so she is not a fit for homes with small dogs or small animals. She also has a strong prey drive and is not suited for homes with cats or children. This girl has a lot of energy and will need a very active lifestyle along with a “job”—whether that’s training, dog sports, structured work, or even ranch-style living. For Cassidy, mental and physical engagement is not optional—it’s essential. Cassidy will do best with: • An experienced, confident handler familiar with herding/working breeds • A very active home committed to ongoing training • A job or structured daily purpose • A standalone home outside of the city with a securely fenced yard • No apartments or condos • No children or small animals Cassidy is a working dog through and through, and in the right home, she is going to absolutely thrive. If you’re experienced, active, and excited about the idea of working with your dog every day, Cassidy could be an incredible match! Cassidy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.
