Story
Decca IS AVAILABLE (updated 04-25-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/decca Decca is a rescue baby through and through. She was born right here in our rescue, adopted as a puppy, but returned when her young, energetic personality turned out to be a bit too much for the senior dog in her home. Now about 2 years old, and currently fostered with two senior dogs and her mom, we've learned that Decca will likely thrive as the only dog or possibly with another confident dog with proper introductions. She's a smart cookie who has already completed board and train and is currently polishing up her manners with a trainer in her foster home. Decca is sweet, playful, and eager to please. She knows her basic commands, is housebroken and absolutely loves toys and having a job to do. She loves playing 'chuck it' ball and will chase and return her ball to you all day long if you let her.. She is the kind of dog who lights up when she gets to work with her person. Decca truly shines with structure, guidance, and a handler who enjoys working with their dog. Because quick movements can startle her, and she has shown some resource guarding with certain items (both things shis is actively working on), we recommend a home with older, respectful kids. Like many young dogs who are still building confidence, she may react if startled, so her future family will need to continue advocating for her and supporting her training. What Decca really needs is a family who will respect her space while she settles in, continue building her confidence, and provide the leadership and consistency that will help her thrive. With the right guidance, this girl is going to blossom into an incredibly loyal, fun, and devoted companion. Decca would do best with a confident handler who enjoys training and giving their dog both mental and physical outlets. If you're looking for a smart, playful dog ready to learn, work and bond deeply with her people, Decca might be your girl. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.April 25, 2026, 5:44 am
