Hi, I’m Heidi. I’m a very shy, nervous girl who needs a patient home where I can take my time settling in. Once I feel safe, my sweet side shines — I grow attached to my new friends and love staying close to the people I trust. If you’re looking for a quiet companion who will blossom with kindness and consistency, I might be the one for you.

Story
Hi, I’m Ruby! I’m a shy girl at first, especially when meeting new people, but once I feel safe, I can’t help but bounce around and show you how excited I am. I love playing fetch and will happily chase a ball as long as you’ll throw it. I get pretty enthusiastic on my walks and sometimes pull, so I do best with a walking aide to help me stroll like the distinguished shepherd I know I am. I’m not a fan of other dogs, so I’d prefer to be your one-and-only at home. I’ve lived in a home before, and with a little patience and understanding, I’ll settle into a new one at my own pace. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful companion who just needs a bit of time to warm up, I’d love to meet you!

Hi, I’m Saphira! I might be a little shy when we first meet, but don’t let that fool you—I’m a sweet pup with a playful heart. Once I feel safe, I love to run, play, and show off my silly side. I’m still learning how to build confidence and would do best in a home with adults or older teens who can help me practice basic manners and positive social experiences. With patience and love, I know I’ll grow into the brave, happy pup I’m meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will thrive with your guidance, I’d love to be your pup.

Decca IS AVAILABLE (updated 02-03-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/decca Hi, I'm Decca! I am a merry mix of some wonderful breeds. I am 44% German Shepherd Dog, 21% Labrador Retriever, 8% Golden Retriever and 7% Siberian Husky. I was born on 7/11/2025 to a beautiful mom who is primarily GSD and an alleged dad who was primarily Black Labrador. Somehow I ended up with some Husky characteristics; more than my siblings did. I was the most distinctive puppy in the litter. My 'baby' photo is included at the end of my photos. I was so darn cute! I was previously adopted by a family with 3 young children and a senior dog whose energy level was not compatible with mine. I returned back to my original foster home where I live with two older dogs and my mother (Libby). I am young, energetic and would do best in a home with a confident, well balanced dog who has a similar energy level. Or, I would be fine being the only dog in the home. Your choice. With the help of everyone in my past, I went through some special training that helped me learn many things including obedience. I am house, leash, and dog door trained. I am young - just over 1 year old - and I'm just a teenager. Like a teenager I can be stubborn and headstrong. I like to test my environment and can be both frightened and confident depending on the situation. All my vaccines are up to date and I am microchipped, and spayed. I love people and get along with my foster family dogs but need proper introductions and boundaries to feel comfortable in new environments. I have incredible potential to be your new best friend. When can we meet? The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 3, 2026, 5:36 am

Biscuit IS AVAILABLE (updated 02-03-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/biscuit Biscuit and her friend Denali came from the same shelter in Southern California. The shelter said that they were not bonded but they definitely like to be with each other and are buddies. Biscuit is very shy. Biscuit is not going to choose you to adopt her, you will have to chose Biscuit. Because of past mistreatment, she takes a while to warm up to people and trust them. But - once she does trust you - she will be a wonderful companion and buddy. Just ask her foster family. They have seen an amazing transformation with her since she came to their home. Biscuit is house broken and crate trained. She doesn't mind being in a crate. She is relaxed and comfortable inside of one and will walk in herself. It is truly her safe place. Biscuit prefers to be equally inside and outside. If she is in the yard and has been out long enough, according to her, she will let you know she wants to be back inside. Other than her crate, her favorite place is curled up on the couch next to her foster mom. She prefers to play with Denali but will play with other dogs. She loves the company of the other dogs in the home. She is agile - she will need a secure yard and a fence that she can not leap over. Biscuit loves carrots. It's her favorite treat. She walks well on a leash but prefers that strange people and dogs keep their distance- sheââ&#194&#130¬â&#194&#132¢s not reactive in any way, she just doesnââ&#194&#130¬â&#194&#132¢t choose to interact with anyone she doesnââ&#194&#130¬â&#194&#132¢t know. Biscuit has come a long way since she first arrived at Coastal. She knows her foster home is a safe place and now feels confident to go on walks without rushing to go back inside. She is going to be an amazing companion if you give her a little time, some patience, and a lot of love. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 3, 2026, 5:36 am

Bandit IS AVAILABLE (updated 02-03-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/bandit-1 Bandit was found as a 4 month old GSD puppy with left eye trauma and landed at the San Bernardino shelter. We rescued her from the euthanasia list and got her necessary vet care. After careful evaluation by a specialist, her eye had to be removed. She recovered from surgery like a champ and feels better now that her eye isn't hurting her! Banditââ&#194&#130¬â&#194&#132¢s eye healed quickly and she moved to a foster home with a loving family that gives her lots of love and attention and also have invested time and training for Bandit so she will have the best opportunity in her new forever home. Bandit is fully trained with Falco K9 and can continue to build on her training classes with Falco! Due to Bandit only having one eye, she can be very defensive with other dogs. Bandit needs to be the queen in her castle! Whoever adopts Bandit has to have big dog experience, experience training a working dog, and be ready to work with a very smart and strong-minded girl. She needs patience and consistency. Bandit loves toys: she loves playing fetch, chase, and tug. Her favorite pastime is finding sticks. She loves when someone throws a ball or toy for her to fetch and when everybody in the family runs around in the yard with her! Bandit not only has full obedience training but she is crate trained and has amazing house manners! If Bandit sounds like the girl for you, please complete the adoption application! The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 3, 2026, 5:36 am

Fiona IS AVAILABLE (updated 02-03-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/fiona Fiona came to us with one of her pups. They were being given away 'free to good home' and were rescued by an animal lover who didn't want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about Fiona! The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 3, 2026, 5:36 am

Story
Meet Cairo, our incredible rescued Belgian Malinois who's ready to steal your heart and find his forever home! Cairo came to us from a high-kill shelter where he was battling a URI (upper respiratory infection). With dedicated veterinary care, he's now completely healthy, neutered, fully vaccinated, and bursting with life. What started as a second chance has turned into the discovery of one of the most delightful, un-Malinois-like Malinois you'll ever meet. While the breed is famous for intense drive, laser focus, and excelling in high-stakes work like police and military roles, Cairo is the charming exception that proves the rule. He actually failed police academy—not for any lack of intelligence or ability, but because he was far more interested in playing fetch, chasing toys, and making friends than in the serious business of bitework and patrols. His trainers couldn't help but laugh: this smart, capable dog just wanted to have fun! Cairo is very playful yet remarkably smart—he picks up commands lightning-fast and has mastered all the basics (and then some). He's fully house trained, leash trained, and responds eagerly to cues like sit, stay, down, come, and more. But his favorite thing? Curling up right next to you, laying his head in your lap, or sprawling out for belly rubs and quiet companionship. He's the ultimate velcro dog who thrives on being close to his people. Incredibly social and gentle, Cairo gets along beautifully with everyone—kids, adults, other dogs, you name it. His easygoing, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful fit for active families, couples, or anyone looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who's happy to join in adventures or just chill on the couch. This special boy has overcome so much and now he's ready for a loving home where he can play, learn, snuggle, and live the joyful life he deserves. If you're looking for a Belgian Malinois with a twist—one who's equal parts clever, goofy, and cuddly—Cairo might just be your perfect match. Serious inquiries only—let's give this good boy the forever home he's been waiting for! 🐾❤️
