Story
Cowboy is a handsome rottweiler/shepherd mix that has the most beautiful honey-colored eyes. When Cowboy looks at you, he looks right into your soul. While his eyes are beautiful, they are still sad, as they know, he has nobody wanting him. This boy is 2 years old and weighs 54 lbs. Cowboy has been at the sanctuary since he was a tiny puppy, along with his siblings. About 22 months ago, back around June of 2024, a rescue asked for them to take him and 3 siblings into care at just 8 weeks old with commitment to help financially and take them on the next transport. The rescue delayed, delayed and delayed. They didn't give a dime to their care before ultimately ghosting them completely once they were 5 months old. THEN, another rescue stepped in and tagged them. They ended up ALSO completely ghosting 6 weeks later. The sanctuary, based in South Texas along the Texas/Mexico border, had little options back then. They begged for help, and nobody stepped in to help. Unfortunately, it led to Cowboy and his siblings growing up without ever knowing what their forever is. Cowboy could have had his forever home 2 years ago, instead, 2 rescues took that away from them. This is where we have stepped into help. We want to help Cowboy find his forever home he so deserves. Cowboy loves to hang out in the AC and next to people. He is quiet, chill and so relaxed. When he is outside, he loves to sit in the pools and cool down. He does not want craziness and does not need lots of energy, just needs proper exercise and lots of love. Cowboy loves other dogs but would not mind at all being an only dog. He is currently in the sanctuary with other dogs. His favorite treats are hot dogs; he can never get enough of them. Cowboy likes to sit back and watch the chaos of other dogs rather than joining in. He just wants to sunbathe, relax and love life! Cowboy requests strong toys, as anything less will be nothing more than fluff when he is done with it. But man, he LOVES his toys! Cowboy knows how to walk on a leash and gets very excited when going for a walk. He will grab the leash with his mouth and try to walk himself. He LOVES adventures. The sanctuary has pigs, and we know for sure he gets along with them! Cowboy is smart, loyal, and has the best smile. He does not need a lot, but does need someone with patience, love, and a kind heart. Cowboy wants his best friend, and we hope his best friend is out there for him. Cowboy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm positive (they have received the 30-day course of antibiotics and need to stay on heart worm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested then), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Karla is a volunteer favorite and a truly special dog looking for the right match. This beautiful German Shepherd mix takes time to trust, but once you’re in her circle, you’re there for life. She’s affectionate, loyal, and loves her walks, car rides, and a good game of fetch or frisbee. She is housetrained, incredibly smart, and about 50 pounds. She was born in November 2018. Here is the tricky part - Karla does not like strangers, and sometimes other dogs. Karla takes a long time to warm up, and as such she cannot go home with just anyone. She is protective of her people, so she will need a home where this is respected. An experienced dog owner is a must. Shepherd experience is a plus. Karla had a DNA test and she is: 46% German Shepherd Dog 32% American Pit Bull Terrier 9% Rottweiler 5% Dalmatian 4% American Staffordshire Terrier 2% White Swiss Shepherd 1% Belgian Sheepdog 1% Bohemian Shepherd Dog

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Get ready to fall head over paws for Princess - a stunning girl with one blue eye and one brown eye! Her dad was a purebred Great Pyrenees and her mom was a mix of German Shepherd and other breeds, giving Princess her beautiful medium-length coat and one-of-a-kind look. Princess is a high-energy girl who loves to run and play, but when adventure time is over, she's equally happy cuddling up beside you on the couch. She's housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained (still learning not to pull), and knows the command "sit." She doesn’t dig and is actually fairly quiet for a Pyr. Cheese is her all-time favorite treat! She does have a flair for escape - she's jumped the porch gate and loves to chase cars - so a secure 5-foot fence is a must. Princess is an absolute sweetheart with kids and has been wonderful with the resident children ages 4, 2, and an infant. She does well with large dogs but is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals. She may bark to alert you that someone new has arrived, but is sweet with everyone she’s met. Her dream home is with an active family that has kids, room to run, and a securely fenced yard. This sweet, silly girl is ready to blossom - could that home be yours? If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
