Story
Smiley – 1.5-year-old Female German ShepherdTrue to her name, Smiley is a bright, friendly, social girl who loves meeting people. She came to us from a hoarding case where she was made to live outdoors her whole life. But since arriving at the shelter, she has shown us just how much she adores being inside. Soft dog beds, warm blankets, squeaky toys — Smiley soaks it all in with such appreciation.Smiley is smart and eager to learn. She already knows sit and shake, and with a patient, kind family willing to teach her about living in a real home, she will blossom quickly. She’s already showing us she’s more than ready for that next chapter. She’s currently putting on healthy weight, now at 53 lbs, and still needs to gain a few more. She is full grown. Smiley tested negative for heartworm, positive for Lyme (not contagious) and is currently being treated. She is vaccinated, flea & tick treated, on heartworm prevention, microchipped, and will be spayed before adoption. This sweet girl truly deserves to know what it feels like to be loved, safe, and part of a family. In return, Smiley will give you endless loyalty, gratitude, and a lifetime of companionship. If you’re ready to show her what a real home feels like, Smiley is ready to give you her whole heart. 🐾💛Smiley's adoption fee is $225. You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Tuesday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.Take advantage of our foster-to-adopt program, where you can take any dog 4 mos and older home for a week to make sure it is a good fit before committing to adoption.
