Story
Shadow has endured a difficult journey filled with judgment and mislabeling, which has understandably made it hard for him to show his true personality. It’s heart-wrenching to think about how challenging it must be for him to navigate the world when he hasn’t always been understood. However, if you take the time to meet him where he is, you’ll soon discover just how incredible he truly is.Shadow is not only intelligent and loving, but he also has a playful, goofy side that is guaranteed to bring you joy. He has so much to offer to someone who is willing to give him a chance. He loves playing with his toys and enjoys a good game of fetch, which showcases his fun-loving nature. That said, he can be a bit protective of his food, water, and toys, and it’s important to approach him with respect for his boundaries.Being in Shadow`s presence is genuinely uplifting; he has a special way of making those around him smile. The ideal adopter for Shadow would be someone patient who takes the time to understand his unique quirks and supports him in feeling safe and secure. Even though he might be misunderstood, Shadow has so much love to give and would thrive in a caring family environment. If you`re ready to offer a compassionate home, consider adopting Shadow—he truly deserves a chance to shine.

Story
Meet Rune!Rune`s journey has been quite challenging, as her name suggests a bit of magic that she truly deserves. She started off in an overcrowded shelter, confined to a crate day and night without any breaks. After being adopted in late 2023, she unfortunately found herself lost and was discovered by one of our partner shelters running along the side of the road. Sadly, her owners haven`t responded to our calls, so she has returned to us once again.Since coming back, Rune has shown just how resilient she is. It`s heartwarming to see her spirit shine through; she always has a smile on her face. While she is full of energy, she knows how to settle down after some playtime or training and enjoys relaxing in our office with us. Rune absolutely loves to play with toys and has mastered many commands, including sit, lay down, leave it, roll over, stay/wait, easy, shake with both paws, and spin.Rune is already an incredible dog, but the depth of her potential is truly remarkable. We invite you to come meet her and experience her wonderful spirit for yourself. Walk-ins are always welcome!

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.
