Rico is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. If you are interested in scheduling a meeting, please fill out the request form here: Adopt From Foster Form. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as he is not available to meet on site.Age: 3 yearsWeight: 43.20 kgA little bit about Rico:- unknown history with kids, all interactions should be supervised- no history with cats and small animals, all interactions should be supervised- has had positive interactions with other calm, confident dogsRico may be a large boy, but this gentle giant is a lap dog at heart! This gorgeous guy was surrendered to us for no fault of his own and is waiting for his forever home in the comfort of a foster home. In the shelter he was quite shut down, overwhelmed by the unfamiliar sounds, spaces and people. But in his foster home he has truly blossomed - his foster describes him as “genuinely the sweetest dog,” and it doesn’t take long to see why!Once he warms up (usually within a day), Rico bonds deeply and loves to stay close to his people. He can be a little shy at first, but he’s never shown any signs of aggression, and he settled beautifully even when staying with new people in a new home. He would thrive with someone who can offer companionship and plenty of cozy moments, as he’s happiest curled up nearby and nudging gently for more pets.Rico has had nothing but positive interactions with other dogs and could enjoy a canine friend in his forever home. We would be happy to facilitate a dog introduction here at the shelter to ensure a good match! Rico, to our knowledge, has never been around cats before, so we would strongly recommend slow, supervised introductions. He also loves his walks, especially when there are squirrels to watch. He may pull at the start of an exciting adventure, but he quickly relaxes into a nice rhythm. If your bed, home and heart are all feeling a little empty, Rico`s got more than enough love, fluff and, well, Rico, to fill those spaces! Fill out the Adopt from Foster form above if you think he may be just the pup you`ve been looking for.

John E is on a furcation until December 27. If you are interested in meeting him, please email the adoption department at adopt@calgaryhumane.ca or book an adoption appointment after December 27**John E is a Patient Paw, please ask about his reduced adoption fee!**Age: 11 monthsWeight: 25.5 kgA bit about John E:- unknown history with kids; all interactions should be supervised- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised introductions over multiple sessions recommended- limited history with other dogs; potential for home with another dog pending successful dog-to-dog introductionMeet Mr. John E. (the E stands for energetic!). He`s got enough energy to guide Santa`s sleigh tonight (and every night), making him the perfect buddy to go walking in a winter wonderland with. After a long day of dashing through the snow together, curling up for a nap by the fire is so delightful! (Or, he`ll take a dog bed too!) He loves to discover new toys in every store, and a few of his favourite things include hiking, stick collecting and food enrichment activities. This goofy young shepherd mix loves to meet new people and will come bouncing over to wish you a Merry Christmas (and all your guests too!) Just don`t let him rock around the Christmas tree, as sometimes he gets a little too excited! Okay, Christmas carol puns aside, here`s what you need to know! John E is a goofy young dog with tons of energy who will thrive in an active home that can engage his brain. When he`s not given enough enrichment, he can become frustrated and over-excited, but he`s a polite and overall well-mannered boy when he has a job to do. He has done well with other social dogs! When he does get excited, he redirects well to food and toys. Tis the season to be jolly with John E at your side, so come meet him today!
