🌟 Meet Astra — A Sweet and Sensitive German Shepherd Looking for Her Safe Place
Astra is a beautiful 3-year-old German Shepherd with striking black-and-silver markings and a deeply sensitive heart. She has experienced trauma that has left her fearful and unsure of the world, and because of that, she needs a very specific kind of home to truly thrive.
Astra was adopted and returned quickly — not because she misbehaved, but because her emotional needs require time, presence, and structure. We want to be completely transparent so her next placement can be her last.
💛 Astra’s Personality
Astra is not confident or outgoing at first. She is cautious, fearful in new situations, and slow to trust. She needs consistency and calm leadership to feel safe.
Once trust is built, Astra shows her true self — loyal, gentle, affectionate, and deeply bonded to her person. She is the kind of dog who will form a strong attachment and become an incredibly devoted companion.
🏠 Important Home Needs
Astra must have:
✔ Someone home more often than not
✔ A calm, predictable environment
✔ A patient, experienced adopter who knows that something beautiful can take time
✔ Time to build trust at her pace — not rushed expectations
Astra struggles with separation anxiety and does best when she knows her person is nearby. She is not a good fit for adopters who work long hours away from home or expect immediate independence.
🐶 With Other Animals
Dogs: Calm, friendly, and submissive. A steady, confident dog could be helpful but is not required.
Cats: Cat-friendly and content to coexist.
🏡 Home Manners & Training
Astra is house-trained and familiar with basic commands. She responds best to structure, routine, and gentle, positive reinforcement. Confidence-building will be an important part of her continued growth.
