Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Smart girl looking for an adventure buddy! RAIN NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Rain       Best Guess for Breed:    Belgian malinois    Best Guess for Age:   4 years (as of September 2023)        SEX:  female   Approximate Weight:   42lbs as of September 2023   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! Rain has not been seen with cats or kids but she can be tested!   Currently Living at:    South Carolina shelter - needs a foster to be transported up to DC!   Special adoption considerations: Rain is a truly Lucky Dog!  She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Rain is Looking For:   Her forever family! Belgian malinois are known for their smart brains and their strong attachments to their humans, and Rain wants nothing more to know who her people are. She's out of the puppy yips and is ready to accompany her family on long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Trips to the mountains - hanging out in the park and people watching - Starbucks stops for pup cups - she's there with you for it all! She's also super smart and is eager to participate in training and other mental enrichment activities. She is stocking up on adoring gazes and tail wags for her new humans, and promises loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is Rain the companion you have been seeking?     What My Foster Says About Me:   Coming soon!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
