Anchor loves having other active dog friends who love playtime as much as he does. He’s done well in a foster home and appears to be both potty trained and crate trained. Before you know it, he'll be following you everywhere—he's the kind of dog who loves being close to his people and will happily become your loyal shadow. LJ is wonderful with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, playful canine companion who can help show him the ropes and bring out his fun-loving side. Story
Meet Maple!Maple is a sweet, senior Belgian Malinois x German Shepherd Mix, approximately 8 to 9 years old, with a gentle and sensitive soul. She can be very timid and shy around new people, likely due to a history of limited positive interactions with humans. Maple needs a calm, patient adopter who will allow her to move at her own pace and build trust on her terms. Once she feels safe, she enjoys peaceful walks and rolling in thick green grass.Unlike many shepherds, Maple is medium to low energy and prefers to keep to herself rather than engage in nonstop activity. She has been introduced to other dogs and does best with calm, respectful companions. She may correct overly pushy or high-energy dogs and can show mild leash or fence reactivity, but responds well to consistent verbal corrections. Maple would thrive with someone experienced with shepherd breeds and structured, consistent training. If introducing another dog, a meet-and-greet is recommended, though she is likely happiest as the only dog in the household.Maple has special needs - she is heartworm positive. Dogs with heartworm disease can live happy, high-quality lives with proper care. Heartworm positive dogs have just as much love and companionship to offer as any other dog and deserve a chance at a forever home! By adopting Maple, you are truly saving a life.Ask staff about the Stormie Rain Heartworm Fund and what assistance may be available to help with her heartworm treatment.Maple is ready to find a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, cared for, and truly cherished.ADOPTION PROCESS:Our adoption process is simple and straightforward.Start by completing our pre-screening application: https://tinyurl.com/adoptfromHSCCApplications are typically approved or declined the same day. Once approved and all parties agree, adoption fees are paid and the contract is signed. If the pet is not yet spayed/neutered or current on a rabies vaccine, they will not go home the same day. An appointment will be scheduled, and you’ll receive further instructions at that time.We hope this helps answer your questions!

Story
This is OTTO. He is 9 years old, was sent for obedience training, so he is more like a guard dog than a fun dog. He was adopted in Jacksonville, FL. He seems scary until he knows you're not a threat. He tends to like being in his crate or tucked behind a table keeping an eye on everything around him. Once he knows you are his person, he will protect you at all costs. He is bonded to his pal Ann Marie, a 12 yr old Catahoula Leopard. We will separate if necessary but we would love to keep them together. We are looking for a new home because his owner, MY DAD, was recently moved into assisted living due to some serious health conditions that keep him from living on his own. None of us kids can take these great dogs due to our own pet situations, we all have rescued animals in our own homes. We are willing to give a stipend/condition to help get him/them settled into their new homes.

These pups are in Atlantic Beach, Florida too!

Story
Bojack is looking for a new home. Bojack is a white German Shepherd, approximately 1 year old, with a big heart and lots of personality. He loves people, gets along well with other animals, and enjoys being part of the family. Bojack knows his name and several commands, including sit, shake, and high-five. He loves playing fetch and is always excited to spend time with his people. He is smart, affectionate, and eager to learn. He is good with children, but because he is still young and energetic, he can sometimes get excited and jump, which may be overwhelming for smaller kids. He would benefit from continued training and consistency as he matures. This has been a difficult decision, and my goal is to find the best possible home for him. I’m not looking for the first person who responds—I’m looking for the right fit. If you’re interested, please send me a message and tell me a little about yourself and your home.
