Story
June Bug came to us as a stray and we are all flummoxed as why no one came to claim her. She is very sweet with everyone she meets. She is very smart and very much wants to have a family so that she can devote all her love to them. Her perfect home has a fenced yard as this girl needs to run in a safe environment, older respectful children, no cats or small animals, a friendly male dog and savvy owners who understand the demands of the Malinois breed. This breed is not a breed to be taken lightly as they are very active and need owners who will be able to keep up. Although June Bug is a sweetheart her genetics are very much Malinois.

Story
Hi there. My name is Symphony and here is a little info about me: Height: 43 cm Size: Large RESCUE STORY The time we saw Symphony we knew that she was another victim of abandonment. It is not unusual for a dog taken as a puppy to be abandoned when it grows up. She was running from one side to the other in heavy traffic. If she wouldn’t die from starving, she was going to die from a car accident for sure. So we took her to the vet to see if she had a family who was looking for their dog. But we could not find a microchip on her. So our journey with Symphony started. Character Symphony is very social and just looooves human attention. He greets everyone who comes to her section in the shelter with enthusiastic jumps and little happy circles. Outside she is curious, but pays attention to the human. Also is happy to stop for a play with a toy or some cuddles. She is always ready to show her belly with a single touch. Besides her cheerful character, she turns out to be really smart. Symphony would fit best with an active family. She can live with other friendly dogs. We don’t know how she is around cats but due to her curiosity and eagerness to play, you should be ready for training if you have a cat(s). She probably would love to live with children if her enthusiastic character is taken into consideration. Energy Level: Active Prey drive: None observed Fears: None observed Training: She knows how to walk with a leash but still needs training. Health notes: No health issues.

Story
Mel is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Mel, the Belgian Malinois mix. Mel is apx 6- 8 months old and 35 pounds, but still a tad on the thin side, we are fattening her up. Mel will be a big gal, probably weighing 65-70 plus pounds. Her legs are huge. Mel is smart, quirky, sometimes a fraidy cat which is funny because she is so big, but you still have to remember just because she is a giant, she is still just a baby. Mel is working on her leash manners, potty manners and every other manners. She spent two months in the city shelter alone in a 4x4 cell full of pee and poop. As you can imagine this dog breed does not do well with that setting. Being in a shelter forced to sleep, urinate and eat in the same space for months as a baby really set her behind a bit. She needs some work, patience and devotion. Mel is a FAST learner though. In less than two weeks she learned not to jump, she takes treats very nicely. We are still working on sit as she sits and then slides down to a lay belly roll 😂. She is submissive to other dogs and people and never ever aggressive. Mel does not have a mean bone in her body. That being said, make sure that you research this dog breed thoroughly before committing to taking her into your home for the rest of your life as she will get very attached to you and your family and will probably be very protective of you. She is eager to learn, to please her people, to love, to play and as she gains trust and confidence, I have no doubt you are going to have one spectacular dog on your hands that you can not imagine life without. We have had her with big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, cats, puppies and kids and she is amazing with them all. Give Mel a chance! You won’t regret it. Meet Mallory, the 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, whose heart matches the size of her adorable paws! A bundle of strength and friendliness, Mallory loves a good play session and might add a touch of excitement with her joyful jumps.Mallory takes pride in maintaining a spotless kennel and prefers the great outdoors for her daily business routine. One of her favorite rituals is selecting a new toy from her bin each day, showcasing her playful antics as she tosses them in the air with pure delight. While she`s a clever girl, Mallory is in search of a strong and experienced owner to be her guiding light. Leash manners are a work in progress, but her eagerness to learn shines through. An active owner ready for playtime adventures is just what Mallory needs. She has a vocal side, and a backyard would be the cherry on top for her ideal home.

Story
Please meet Sesame!!Sesame is an approximately 4-5 month old, female spayed, Belgian Malinois mix.She came into the shelter a couple of weeks ago and now she is ready for her home. She has been vaccinated, sterlized and microchipped since being with us here at the shelter.Belgian Malinois are a herding breed of dog and do best when they have lots of work to do. They are highly intelligent, alert, sensitive and highly trainable. They have a strong guarding instinct making them protective of their family and property. She seems to have a pretty easy going temperment, but as a puppy we would highly recommend that her new owners take her for some puppy obedience classes. If you are interested in adopting Sesame, please give us a call between the hours of 10:30am-6:30pm, at 416-338-7297 (PAWS) at the North Shelter, and we would be happy give you more information and explain the current adoption process. Thanks so much for looking.
